Five Things We Can’t Wait for This Holiday Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

As every holiday season approaches there is always a lot of excitement in the air. But, to a certain extent, the excitement is heightened this year. With a year full of political chaos and a worldwide pandemic, the holidays are approaching with, hopefully, some good times after a year of distress.

1. Time with family

Ok, yes you may have gotten a lot of this over quarantine, but you can’t deny that the time spent with family during the holiday season is different. From baking cookies with your mom and sister to setting up the tree with your parents, the holidays make for a fun and festive time with family including sacred traditions.

2. Holiday Music

Everyone loves a good holiday song. From “Up on the Rooftop” to “Silent Night” to “Dreidel Dreidel Dreidel,” holidays songs just make us feel some type of way. They build our anticipation and get us amped for the weeks to come.

3. Festive Decorations

Any day, lights will begin to line our streets, and Christmas trees and Menorahs will be hoisted up in town squares. The decorations of the holiday season bring joy and happiness to everyone and excite people excited for the festivities.

4. The Best Food

Food is always at the top of my list, and it is one thing that makes the holidays so amazing. Peppermint flavored everything…yes, please. The Christmas cookies you make with your family, or the potato latkes you eat with applesauce–to die for! The holidays don’t only bring good cheer, but great food.

5. Gifts, of course.

We couldn’t make a list without including this! Not to be shallow, but who doesn’t like getting gifts? I know I do. But, to be fair, we all know the joy in giving too. To see the smile or shocked face of a loved one as they finally get that new shirt they have been talking about for months is unmatched.

Through this rough year, one thing that we can all still look forward to is the coming holiday season filled with joy, love, laughter and LOTS of food!!!!!
