$EN!OR Strugs: A Guide to Posties

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

In less than a month, seniors and non-seniors will flock down to classy Dirty Myrtle for a few good days of surf, sun and sand. It’s important to prepare ahead of time to make sure that you have the best (and safest) time possible!

1. Sunscreen is the MVP

I know it sounds obvious. When I went two years ago, I slacked on reapplying it and wow did I regret it; I got the worst sunburn of my life. Let me tell you, the five-hour car drive back to campus with a burn on my back was not fun. Learn from my mistakes and make sure you use a strong SPF.

2. Monitor yourself when drinking

It’s easy to get carried away. Everyone is celebrating and you’re with all your friends at the beach. Make sure you know when to cut yourself off or sip water, so you can remember this awesome weekend!

3. Food

With all that alcohol, don’t forget to eat. I would recommend going grocery shopping for breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Eat in the morning and pack yourself a beach picnic with snacks for later in the afternoon. You can also split groceries with the people you are staying with and then go out to dinner in the evening. This will save you money if don’t get your full room deposit back.

4. Have fun

Traveling rarely goes smoothly. If your group runs into a snafu, don’t panic or overreact. Take a deep breath and try to come up with the best solution. This is one of the last times you will be with everyone so don’t let something small get you down.
