Happy Thanksgiving, Wake! Let us give thanks for this Cutie who is on club baseball and loves a girl that can appreciate sports, too: Dowell Harmon!
HC (HerCampus): So what do you think of Wake so far?
DH (Dowell Harmon): It’s awesome. The people here are so great and it’s fun to meet people from other places. My classes are all awesome, too.
HC: What’s your most interesting class?
DH: I think my favorite this year is Intro. to Archaeology. I didn’t even register for the class, I just got it. The teacher is enthusiastic and cool and it’s stuff I never even knew about too.
HC: What’s something you’re involved in on campus?
DH: I’m on the club baseball team, but that doesn’t start ’till spring.
HC: How long have you been playing baseball for?
DH: I’ve played since kindergarden – and all through high school — but I didn’t want to play in college. But when I got here, I missed it a lot, so I’m really glad I’m on the club team.
HC: What’s the most interesting thing you’ve done since you’ve been here?
DH: I probably can’t remember the most interesting thing I’ve done since I’ve been here, (laughs). Well, my friends and I played this thing called “Slender” last night — like Slenderman — it’s basically manhunt, but we just walked around scaring random people. We were dressed in all black and split into groups and had to find these hidden “safe” notes on trees, and if the “slender team” caught you, you lost.

HC: That sounds like a good time. So what’s it been like coming from a small town?
DH: It’s kind of weird seeing people I don’t know because back home I go out and always see someone I know.
HC: So let’s get to the fun stuff. What’s your guilty pleasure?
DH: Teen Wolf (laughs). My best friend back home was obsessed with it and I used to make fun of him for watching it. Then I watched it with him once and got hooked. We used to make fun of it, but now we actually watch it in complete seriousness. It’s pretty hilarious.
HC: (Laughing) What’s your favorite romantic comedy?
DH: Crazy Stupid Love because Steve Carrell is hilarious, and I like Emma Stone. I can’t take Ryan Gosling seriously though because of Remember the Titans.
HC: What kind of music are you into?
DH: Rap and country. It really depends where I am. North Carolina makes me want to listen only to country when I’m here.
HC: Who is your role model and why?
DH: I don’t really have one, I just look for features in people to aspire to. Like, my mom is really good at setting goals and meeting them, and I admire that. And my dad is a really persistent person, and I admire that too.

HC: What is your favorite thing about yourself?
DH: I think it’s that I’m enthusiastic about everything, in everything I do. It just makes things more fun for me and for other people.
HC: Can you tell our readers what you look for most in a girl?
DH: Eyes and smile are definitely two things I look for. She has to be fun, in general, easy to talk to, athletic, and she has to be smart. And she has to know about sports too!
HC: Last question: What do you hope to accomplish with the rest of your time here at Wake?
DH: I want to figure out what I want to do with my life, since I don’t know yet. This is why Wake is great—it’s good at everything, so no matter what I decide to do, I’m set because I know Wake will prepare me. And I want to make my best friends here that I can have for the rest of my life.
