This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter and does not reflect the views of Her Campus.

With curly-headed cuteness and singing voices to die for, Hannah and Lauren Hobbs are two girls that immediately grab attention. And of course, there’s the fact that they look exactly identical. Yes, Hannah and Lauren are the twins you’ve seen everywhere together. The two are student advisors, members of Tri Delta, Minor Variation and Intervarsity, not to mention they also sing as a duo in churches around town and on YouTube. They may seem inseparable at first glance, but Hannah and Lauren have also forged individually distinct paths that continue to blossom as they finish off their sophomore fall.

In high school the two were often categorized together as “the Hobbs twins”, or the Hobbs girls” rather than just “Lauren” and “Hannah” due to their interest in similar things and their placement in the same classes. When asked if she felt like she was part of a unit again at Wake, Hannah said that college had actually had the opposite effect on her and her sister.

“Being at Wake has given us the chance to feel less like a unit because many people meet and get to know us separately,” said Hannah. “At home, the first thing that people found out about us was that we are twins, but here, people are more likely to meet us one at a time and find out our individual qualities.”

Lauren agreed and said, “I think having different majors, taking different classes and getting to know different groups of people has really allowed Hannah and I to become less of a unit and more as individuals. Even though many people at Wake know that I am Hannah’s sister, I feel like people have a greater chance to get to know me as an individual first.”

And speaking of majors, Lauren is a psychology major with goals of attending graduate school in counseling, while Hannah is a communication and political science major.

“I’d like to do something with public relations with some company or campaigning,” Hannah explained. “Whatever works. I’m still very vague with career plans.”

Interviewing them left me wondering if they made the conscious decision to attend the same college. They explained to me that they actually applied to many different schools, and only a few of the same ones. And although they made up their minds separately, Wake seemed like the obvious choice to each of them.

Hannah and Lauren are now incredibly thankful to have each other at the same university, especially because it made their adjustment to freshman year a lot easier. They each had a person of comfort in an entirely foreign environment and a best friend to hang out with at any time.

Although they spend a lot of time together, they have separate and special memories of Wake. Hannah’s favorite memory of her freshman year was her entire spring semester, while Lauren said it was her very first Wake football game.

Wake is lucky to have these two kind, enthusiastic girls for another two years, and everyone who has interacted with the Hobbs twins is even luckier. Once you talk to them or even hear them sing (check out “The Hobbs’ Sisters” on YouTube!), you’ll see exactly what makes these girls so special, both as a team and as wonderful individuals.
