“What you see is what you get”… meet this week’s Campus Cutie Derrica Barbee, this sassy North Carolina Native tells it like it is!
Favorite quote: “If you can imagine it, you can achieve it; if you dream it, you can become it.” (William Arthur Ward)
Best advice you’ve ever gottenDon’t ever change for others because no matter what at the end of the day you still have to live with you.
If you could be anyone for a day living or dead? Sandra Bullock
Something everyone should know about you: What you see is what you get… I don’t care about fame, fortune, or popularity. I just live my life and see what happens from there.
Your ideal man? …Has great teeth, I mean pearly white… If I care about my teeth you have to do the same… and also is a gentleman; boys: offer to hold the door open, pay every once in a while! Yes, I can do things for myself, but gestures are nice. I’m not opposed to a nice body either or being attractive and just be respectful. I don’t have time for cocky boys that act differently around his friends… And don’t waste my time because I won’t waste yours.
Music youre listening to right now? Bruno Mars, “Just the way you are”
Celebrity Crush? Will Smith or Taye Diggs… They’re just so suave and their marriages have lasted the longest and you don’t hear about them in the tabloids
Biggest weakness: Always doing for others and forgetting about me
Thing you look for in a friend: Compassion for others because the way you act towards others shows what your character is really like
Most cherished possession: A picture of my me and my mom. I’m like 3 and it was a candid shot of my mom and I just living it up outside… Probably the happiest day of my life or at least it seems like it in the photo.
Kelsey Garvey is a junior English major at Wake Forest University. Her upbringing in Connecticut, otherwise known as country club land, inspired her to write in order to escape and locate something more. Writing has also acted as her outlet to dabble in subjects far beyond her my intellectual capacity: art, culture, design, fashion, photography, and music. Other than reading Vogue and Vanity Fair cover-to-cover, Kelsey enjoys frequenting the blogosphere, speaking franglais in daily conversation, and laughing at her own pathetic jokes. Feel free to email her with any questions or comments.
