Color of the Year: Radiant Orchid

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

Welcome back, collegiettes! I hope you all had a relaxing break and are easily adjusting to the second semester. As we get used to new classes, you might notice yourself meeting a lot of new people – and that means lots of first impressions. Your outfit is an important part of that very first encounter! Every year, Pantone, the “world-renowned authority on color,” introduces the Color of the Year. This year it is Radiant Orchid, which I could not be more excited about. Purple has always been one of my favorite colors, and this feminine shade will look great in every season. Here are a few of my favorite pieces of clothing and accessories in this year’s trendiest hue!

This Leith dress is a great staple for this season Dress it up for a formal with heels and a necklace, or make it work for the rest of winter by adding sheer, black tights! The bright color will definitely draw attention to your outfit, and the $48 price tag isn’t bad either.

One of the best accessories for a collegiette is a wristlet. Being able to store your phone, ID, and keys in the same place makes getting out of the door and being on time for class so much easier. This Tory Burch wristlet is practical and fashionable. Not to mention it’s in spring’s most fashionable color!

If you’re an athletic collegiette, don’t worry; there’s radiant orchid for you too! Nike Free running shoes are already very popular among our more athletically-inclined students here at Wake, and the wide array of colors makes it even more fun to pick a pair. This pair is feminine and fun, and gives your workout outfit a little bit of flair at the gym!

In this freezing weather (aren’t we supposed to be in the South?!) sweaters are a collegiette’s best friend. This bright sweater looks so comfortable! It is easy to throw on with a pair of jeans and boots and you are out the door and on your way to class.

To tie your outfit together, add pieces of orchid jewelry. These Kate Spade pieces are subtle and adorable! They will add a little extra color and glam to any outfit.  Earrings are available here, bangle here, and necklace here.

So go out there and paint the campus red! – I mean orchid…!

Hey collegiettes! I'm Arianna and I am a freshman at Wake Forest University. I love all things preppy, but also like to incorporate trends into my wardrobe. I plan to major in communications and possibly minor in French. I can't wait to begin my Her Campus career and hope you enjoy my blog posts!
