If you’re like me, you probably read articles from the WFU Her Campus site on the reg. But how much do we really know about the people that make this journalistic magic happen? Take, for instance, the two editors of the HCWFU News Section: Cat Vasarhelyi and Clare Rizer.

Cat first became involved with Her Campus during her sophomore year, through one of her DZ sorority sisters, and Clare got involved while she was abroad in Madrid during the fall of junior year.

“While abroad, I realized I wanted to do something productive with my time and share my experiences with others,” said Clare.

Sure enough, her abroad blog was a hit! Clare is a History major and Spanish and Sociology double minor, but journalism has been a passion throughout her college career.

Cat is a Communication major and Journalism minor who is equally passionate about journalism. Not surprisingly, both girls are quick to mention that they dream of one day landing a glam magazine job in the Big Apple.

Anyway, enough with the boring resume credentials. Cat and Clare were kind enough to share some of their favorite (and least favorite) things with us! Read on:

HC: Fave class?

Cat: Screenwriting, which I’m currently taking.

Clare: History of Western Art with Professor Curley. I took it before studying abroad, and it really helped me to appreciate the wonderful art and architecture in Europe.

HC: Least favorite?

Cat: Statistics sophomore year with an awful professor who is no longer here (and rightly so).

Clare: While my History thesis on Stalinism is an extremely fascinating class, I am in the throes of rough drafting right now and want to throw my ThinkPad out the window.

HC: Fave Pit meal?

Cat: I generally cook at home and haven’t had a meal plan since sophomore year, but I fondly remember the Pit’s omelet station.

Clare: I think I’m in the minority for liking the Pit’s creative soups, but I also love their chocolate chip cookies.

HC: Fave off-campus Eatery?

Cat: Elizabeth’s, Midtown Café, and Ishi or Sakura for Sushi.

Clare: The Loop, or Putters for a caloric splurge.

HC: Fave Frat Party Theme?

Cat: Any theme where I can wear cowboy boots and a flannel I’m hugely down for.

Clare: I love the Tupacalypse theme. It hasn’t disappointed me in four years.

We also asked these seniors what they know now that they wish they knew freshman year. Clare admitted that she didn’t know how to print in the library (don’t we all?), while Cat wishes that she’d known the value of all the events that Wake offers, especially through Student Union.

“I think that after graduation you’ll remember the talks and events more than that time you went to some dirty frat basement,” she said.

There’s no doubt in our minds that these fab ladies will be super successful in the months to come, whether they head straight to Glamour in NYC, or move on elsewhere. In the meantime, they’re both focused on savoring the rest of their time here at Wake. One thing they’ll definitely miss? The sense of community on campus.

“I feel like I have 4,000 brothers and sisters here!” said Clare.

“It’s great being able to walk to class and feel at home by seeing ten people you know, but still meet someone new each day,” added Cat.

Cheers to senior year, Cat and Clare!
