Brand Crush: Glossier

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

Recently, I have discovered a makeup line that is easily the best college life-hack ever, and of course, I knew I had to share it with you all.

Glossier is a makeup line that was founded by Emily Weiss, founder of the popular online beauty blog, Intothegloss.com. Started in 2010, they are founded on the belief that makeup and skincare should be all about enhancing your natural beauty. Emily and her team curated an amazing set of no-fuss products to help you achieve this. Their company motto is “Skin first, makeup second. Always.” This really speaks to me especially as a busy college student.

I have always been a fan of Glossier lip balm, but recently, I decided to order some more of their products online. To tell you the truth, I’ve never been more impressed with makeup in my life. All of their products give you the perfect no-makeup makeup look, without looking like you tried too hard for class. Their products are easy to use, make your skin feel and look amazing, and take me less than five minutes to apply in the morning.

Some of my favorite things I’ve been loving from Glossier recently is the Perfecting Skin Tint, Boy Brow, Balm Dotcom, and the Super Serums.

After I’ve rolled out of bed in the morning and only have ten minutes to get ready before I have to run off to my class in Greene, I start off by using the Perfecting Skin Tint. This is essentially a tinted moisturizer, but it makes your skin look super glowy and perfect. It feels extremely lightweight on your face and won’t cause you to break out. It gives you enough coverage to cover any pimples or redness. People won’t even know that you’re wearing makeup and will just be super jealous of what they think is your natural skin.

Normally, I’m not one to fill in my eyebrows, but I’ve been OBSESSED with their Boy Brow. It makes your eyebrows look really thick and even, but again, everyone will be fooled into thinking those are your natural eyebrows! Boy Brow makes your eyebrows look neat and tamed, even when they’re not. It even comes in the smallest package ever, so it’s super easy to throw it in your backpack for whenever you feel like you need a touch-up.

I end my quick makeup routine by throwing on some Balm Dotcom, which is a tinted lip balm. This is a tried and true favorite of mine— a product I’ve been using for over three years. Balm Dotcom is such a rich and buttery formula, and when you put it on your lips, it’s literally the best feeling ever. Your lips will stay moisturized for the rest of the day and will be super soft. The shade of this that I’ve been using lately is “Cherry”— it gives your lips the perfect red tint, almost the same kind of tint you get after you eat a red popsicle. And finally, the Super Serums. These are easily the BEST product from Glossier.

If you take one thing away from this article, it should be that you need the Super Serums in your life. These are a series of three serums that are tailored to how your skin is feeling that day— there’s one to soften tight skin, “wake up” tired skin, and one to ease breakouts and redness. I usually use one of these before bed, depending on how my skin is feeling that day. They are extremely light and airy on the skin, easy to apply, and when you wake up the next morning, your skin will look flawless. They are moisturizing, refreshing, and insanely hydrating. These will save your skin from the nasty effects of an all-nighter, a hangover, or a greasy meal.

Glossier is really the perfect brand for college students, if you ask me! Their products are awesome and will make sure to give you a sunny glow during the most fun, stressful, and exciting four years of your life. I can’t wait to try more products from Glossier and see what they come up with next!

Hi! I'm Jane! Born and raised in New York City, I'm a city girl who is now attempting to be Southern by studying here at Wake Forest University. I'm a freshman who is planning on majoring in communications and journalism. I love to write (especially blogging, duh) and am so excited to be writing for Freshman Problems this school year! When I'm not writing or experiencing my own freshman probs, I can be found watching The Real Housewives of New York City, drinking an iced mocha from Starbucks, and pretending that the spinning bike in the gym is actually a SoulCycle class.
