Summer is right around the corner, and if you know me, you know that I am as pale as Casper the Friendly Ghost. Rather than tan like a normal person, I become the color of a lobster the minute I make contact with the sun. Aside from being wildly unflattering, a sunburn is also super uncomfortable. Thankfully, I have learned from my rookie mistakes: now you can find me wearing SPF 100 and hiding under piles of towels at the beach to secure my nice shade of paleness.

If you’re like me and can’t hack it tanning (which you definitely shouldn’t be doing anyway — hello, skin cancer!), then here are my go-to products for faking that sun kissed glow:

Too Faced Soleil Matte Bronzer

While contouring takes time, effort, and copious amounts of makeup, swiping on some bronzer can instantly warm up your complexion. Plus — I swear by this Too Faced bronzer — not only does it smell exactly like chocolate, but it is just the perfect shade to flatter anyone’s skin tone.

Tanning Lotion

Tanning lotion is a quick and super easy way to gradually build a beautiful glow. Whether it’s from Sephora or CVS, anyone can pick up a tube of gradual tanner. A daily application of tanning lotion will gradually allow you to build the glow you desire without leaving you looking like Snooki.

Sunscreen

Honestly, the best thing to keep your skin looking fresh, young, and luminous is sunscreen! I have recently found COOLA — an all-organic sunscreen line which smells amazing and doesn’t leave white streaks on your skin like other sunscreens tend to do. Slather some on and enjoy the sun!
