A Political Science major with a passion for flying: Andrew Veasey is sure to sweep any girl off her feet.
HC (Her Campus): So I heard you were a transfer student, what were the reasons for that?
AV (Andrew Veasey): Well I was originally at Jacksonville University studying Aviation. After a while I noticed they were firing a lot of pilots and figured that I may need to get a degree in something more practical just in case I couldn’t get a job in aviation after graduation. I also wanted a larger school; (laughs) sounds silly for Wake. But I also wanted to stay in the south…I love the weather.
HC: So what is your major now?
AV: I’m a Political Science major; but my dream job would be working for a commercial airline as a pilot.
HC: How did you get into flying?
AV: I grew up close to where airplanes would land into our local airport, and was always fascinated by them. It’s been my dream to pursue flying since about the 2nd grade.

HC: Are you involved in anything on campus?
AV: I am a brother of Sigma Chi fraternity, mentor of Charge, and a student ambassador for the Study Abroad Office.
HC: Wow, you are involved! So have you ever studied abroad?
AV: Yup! I went to London the fall of my junior year with Syracuse University. I studied mostly political science and history. It was the experience of a lifetime.
HC: So I’m sure you are tired of being asked this question: but you’re a senior, do you have a job lined up after graduation?
AV: (Laughs) I get asked that a lot; but I am still waiting to hear back and if I don’t get it I plan to get back into flying and building up my hours so that I can secure a job with an airline.
HC: So now for the fun questions…What is something fun that most people don’t know about you?
AV: It’s typically flying. But I love to play golf. I love being outdoors!

HC: So who is your dream girl?
AV: Brown or blonde hair – either works. Someone funny, who wants to go out and hang out, a people person for sure! Also someone who loves going to the beach –I love it!
HC: What celebrity resembles that dream girl?
AV: Maybe it was me being in London for so long watching Friends, but Jennifer Anniston. I realize she’s old (laughs) but I like her look and personality.
HC: So if you were planning a first date, what would you do?
AV: A sunset flight, and dinner by the beach.
HC: What’s your most embarrassing moment?
AV: I used to give Hallmark cards to girls in elementary and junior high school, even to girls who had boyfriends. I guess I just didn’t understand boundaries!
