College is a very unique time in our lives. It is our first opportunity to be self-sufficient, and even in the Wake bubble we get a glimpse of what the real world is like. I came to college last year with an extremely naĂŻve take on the world. Boy was I in for a reality check.

My first year of college was remarkable. I experienced things I do not wish upon anyone, not even my worst enemy on their worst day. I also had some of the best experiences in my life, to date. These experiences forced me to come to the realization that life is beautiful and ugly. It is simple and messy. We find love and feel heartache. We witness miracles and muddle through tragedies. Sometimes we are at our wits end on how to handle everything we are going through. We all are still growing up. Everyone’s college experience is unique. Everyone, every day, is going through something whether it is a bad break up, a fight with a friend, homesickness, failing a test, their parents’ divorce, or even the loss of a loved one. These experiences and things we go through are what make us the people we are meant to be. We are young, we screw up. All any of us is trying to do is get it right, whatever “it” may be. Sometimes you need to figure it out on your own, but getting some advice can be helpful in these situations.
