5 Things to do During Hurricane Florence

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

While Hurricane Florence tears through the Carolinas, once you get to a safe place, here are some ideas for how you can pass the time:

1. Watch a movie.

There’s no better time to binge watch a Netflix movie classic, or go see some of the great movies that are out in theaters right now. Check out this site for a full list of movies and TV shows that are arriving and leaving Netflix this month: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/new-to-netflix-us-for-september-2018-more-movies-t/1100-6461341/

2. Do a puzzle.

Treat this hurricane like one big rainy day at the beach.

3. Host a food event with friends.

Ideas include wine and cheese night (if you are of age), food tasting from different countries, build your own taco night, breakfast for dinner, etc.

4. Read a book.

Take this time off from school as a chance to relax and read that book you didn’t get the chance to finish over the summer. If you want to find some good book recommendations, visit the NY Times bestsellers list: https://www.nytimes.com/books/best-sellers/

5. Go online shopping.

Did someone say retail therapy? RetailMeNot has a good running list of sales: https://www.retailmenot.com/coupons/departmentstore
