4 Organizational Hacks for Back-to-School

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

Happy back to school season! With the school year in full swing, classes have already started to pick up. Readings, homework, papers are sadly already being due! The best way to start the year off right and do well in school is to stay organized. I have come up with 4 organizational tips to help you kill it your first month back.

Color Code

Color-coding is a really fun way to keep on top of your schoolwork. Designate a color for each class and use colorful pens to write down your homework in your planner. You will clearly know which class is which and it will help you stay organized! Plus its fun and looks super cute.

5-Minute Organization

Once a day or even once a week, take 5 minutes to organize something. Maybe it’s your planner, your notebooks, or your desk. Just take 5 minutes and quickly tidy it up. This forces you to constantly stay on top of things! Everybody has 5 minutes to spare and you’ll be amazed at how much you can get done in such a short amount of time.

Two in One Notebook

I used to have one folder and one notebook for every class, which meant when I was taking 5 classes, that was 10 things I had to remember. Maybe it’s just me, but I always forgot something. I now just have a notebook with a built in folder for each of my classes and one accordion folder I keep at home. Any papers I need for class go in my notebook and those I am saving for exams go in the accordion. It’s much more simplified and I rarely forget things anymore.

Use a Day Planner

Planning out your day the night before is a serious game changer! You can see exactly what you have going on during the day and where any free time lies. When you wake up in the morning, you don’t even have to think about what you need to do, you’re day planner will tell you! It also can be helpful when planning meals or workouts. Many physical planners come with day planning pages but Pinterest is also full of printable day planning sheets!
