4 Ideas for How To Have an Epic Summer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

We did it! We survived another school year. While it had its ups and downs and tons of memories, I think many are happy (and relieved) to finally make it to summer break. I’ll bet a few handfuls of you collegiettes will be spending most of the summer at home (inclduing myself). Here are some fun ways to make your summer memorable and worthwhile!

1. Go to the library

Check out a new book or reread an old favorite. I love sitting in my backyard or poolside with a great pageturner. On my list this summer are the books White Fur, The Other Boleyn Girl, and Jane Eyre. Check out this list of other awesome summer reads.

2. Go on a day-trip adventure

Explore a different part of your area that you have never been. Go on a bike ride and get lost (maybe bring your phone to GPS you back). Do the touristy things in your area (has anyone ever heard me talk about The Bean?). You may only be living at home in the summers for not much longer so take advantage of these summers to explore.

3. Volunteer

Coach a sport; read to kids who are at summer school; walk dogs at the local Humane Society. Play bingo with residents at a retirement home. This could be a great way to meet new people and give back to your community.

4. Paint

I love crafting and the thought of knowing I am going to decorate my living space again in August makes me excited to redecorate! I love painting canvases, mason jars, and making fun photo collages. It is so relaxing and a great way to have some “me” time.

Have a wonderful summer, and we will see you back in the fall!
