Super Bowl Sunday is the epitome of the classic American-hyped sporting event and this year’s game proved to be one of the most exciting moments in football history with a legendary comeback by the Patriots and unbelievable plays from both teams.

Yet, if you’re anything like me and don’t have much interest in football, and would rather watch the game to witness the halftime performance and to keep up with conversation the next day, then you probably experienced some of these things while watching the 51st Super Bowl:

Stage one: Initial excitement

So when does the first Doritos commerical come on?

Stage 2: Surveying the snacks

Well at least this is the one time of year when it’s socially acceptable to eat mini hot dogs, pizza bites, layered dip, and chicken wings in one meal.

Stage 3: Critiquing the first car, movie, and beverage commercials that comes on

Wait, companies paid millions of dollars for this?

Stage 4: Getting into the game

Everyone around you is jumping up and yelling, your timeline is blowing up, and suddenly you find yourself staring at the TV.

Stage 5: Halftime show

Finally, something you can appreciate.

Stage 6: Witnessing the most unbelievable comeback in Super Bowl history

How did Julian Edelman make that catch?

Stage 7: Wondering why it takes so long for 15 minutes to pass in football time

*Cringes at the thought of all the homework you still haven’t finished*

Stage 8: Getting the last few bites of nachos

And subsequently entering into a food coma.

Stage 9: Comforting your friends who are Falcon fans

Hey, at least they looked promising in the first half.

Stage 10: Relief and excitement that the game is finally over

Congrats, you successfully pretended to be interested in football for a few hours!
