Taylor Swift’s latest album, Lover, has been streaming on my Spotify account almost constantly since it was released August 23. In the course of 1 hour, through 18 songs, Swift gave me ALL the feelings; from the lyrics to the music this album took me by surprise. As a Swiftie and avid horoscope reader, naturally, I had to see which song found its match with a zodiac sign.
Aquarius (January 20 – February 18) — “The Man”
“The Man” is all about calling the world out on gender roles and power; just like Aquarians, this song is bringing attention to the world’s B.S. Aquarians are Earth shakers and big thinkers.
Pisces (February 19 – March 20) — “Soon You’ll Get Better”
This song is about Swift’s mother and her battle with cancer and is one of the most emotional songs on the album. Pisces are known for being sensitive souls with great empathy. With a tendency to look at problems with rose-colored glasses, the Pisces spirit is reflected in the lines “I just pretend it isn’t real / I’ll paint the kitchen neon, I’ll brighten up the sky / I know I’ll never get it, there’s not a day that I won’t try”.
Aries (March 21 – April 19) — “ME!”
“ME!” was a feel-good song of the summer. It has lyrics that boom with confidence and determination. Just like Aries, this song is very self-aware. Lines like, “I know that I’m a handful, baby” “ME!” embodies Aries fierce, unapologetic spirit.
Taurus (April 20 – May 20) — “Cruel Summer”
Taureans enjoy the luxurious side of life and know what they want and will do all they can to achieve their desires. “Cruel Summer” traces a turbulent romance and the chase of the relationship. Taurean traits appear in lines like “You know that I caught it (Oh yeah, you’re right, I want it)” Taureans can become so determined to get what they want in life and sometimes that determination can catch up to them. They can find themselves in a sticky situation because of their tunnel vision.
Gemini (May 21 – June 20) — “London Boy”
Geminis have an insane amount of energy and are great at taking everything in stride. “London Boy” travels throughout London and is one of the highest energy tracks on the album. Just like Geminis, Swift uses this song as a way to express how she feels and she isn’t afraid of it!
Cancer (June 21 – July 22) — “Death By A Thousand Cuts”
For my fellow Cancers out there, you know why this song matches with us. Cancers are quick to invest emotionally in someone and are gentle souls, full of compassion. “Death By A Thousand Cuts” is all about the aches and pains of heartbreak and being vulnerable with someone. Fun fact, this song was inspired by the Netflix movie, Someone Great (Genius).
Leo (July 23 – August 22) — “I Forgot That You Existed”
Leos are one of the most determined and courageous signs.“I Forgot That You Existed” is about triumph after heartbreak. Being able to pick yourself up after a tough time and come out stronger than before is a classic Leo trait.
Virgo (August 23 – September 22) — “Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince”
Virgos are tenacious, grounded in reality and pay close attention to detail. This song examines the world and a relationship through practical terms while also basking in the positives and commitment of a relationship.
Libra (September 23 – October 22) — “Cornelia Street”
In “Cornelia Street” Swift sings about how she could never walk Cornelia Street again if the relationship that started there ended. Libras strive for balance in relationships and trust their gut. “Cornelia Street” is all about following your intuition even if you don’t know where it’s taking you.
Scorpio (October 23 – November 21) — “False God”
“False God” centers around a relationship that both know won’t last but still continue. It’s one of the more mysterious, moodier tracks. Scorpios have great commitment to personal relationships and are in tune to the emotional realm.
Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21) — “I Think He Knows”
Sagittarians are known for running on the excitement of an adventure, especially in romantic relationships and the chase within “I Think He Knows” matches with their spirit. With solid confidence in who they are, this sign is a magnetic figure that draws all the attention in a room. Sagittarians are the type to follow the sparks wherever they may go.
Capricorn (December 22 – January 19) — “Paper Rings”
Capricorns are old souls who have mastered navigating through life’s roadblocks. “Paper Rings” is a come to Jesus moment, Swift recognizes who she values most in life and will give up the materialistic things for them. Capricorns are down to earth and give it to you straight, but with a reassuring smile.
