Well folks, it’s that time of year! December has begun, and there are lights, fun activities, decorations and nonstop repetitive songs in stores and on the radio. It’s crazy to think about the fact that 2025 is already coming to an end, and how do we finish it? With the same songs that they play every single year. Believe it or not, it really gets to a point, and this is officially mine. I’m tired of the same music and in grocery stores, the car and at every party I get invited to. It’s time for us to have something new and exciting to bring us together this Christmas season.
I understand the idea of nostalgia and having traditions, but what gets me is the fact that there is so much potential for new ideas to prosper and grow. We have generations of new talented people who are constantly making hit songs. Why not come out with new music to listen to during the holidays or to even put into the new movies that come out every year?
The same songs that play are “Carol of the Bells,” “Santa Clause is Coming to Town,” “Last Christmas,” “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” Silent Night,” and SO MUCH MORE. They’re all about similar things with similar themes, and it’s time for something new.
I will admit, some of those songs are pretty good and groovy, while simultaneously bringing good memories, but when they play over and over again from the beginning of November to the end of December, and sometimes even into January, it’s like I’m going mental. Hearing the same 10 songs when you step into a store or your car can really make seasonal depression worse. It’s completely and utterly time for a change.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think it’s bad if you listen to these songs, I just need something different. No, not need, I crave something different. I want to hear some of the ideas artists have spinning around in their minds for a new feel to Christmas. I wait for new music and songs to come out every year, and until then I will continue to wait. I will continue to wait and listen to the same music that plays during this time of year that has played for the past millennia.
