The 5 Halloween Costumes I NEED To See This Year

While the end of the summertime is disappointing to many, there’s no doubt that fall is one of the most exciting times of the year. The change of the leaves, the pumpkin spice, the fall outfits, and the feeling of being in Gilmore Girls are only a fraction of the reasons why it is my favorite season. To me, this fall represents new beginnings as I (along with thousands of others) settle into my first semester in Blacksburg.

However, my absolute favorite part about the fall is everything to do with Halloween. Halloween has always held special place in my heart. The street where I grew up and lived on throughout my entire childhood is notorious for being “the Halloween street.” The local police would fence it off, and thousands of families from my town and surrounding areas would come out to trick or treat. One of my neighbors decided to keep track last year, and she claims she had 3,000 trick or treaters in the span of four hours.

Having endured 18 years of hectic Halloweens like these, both as a trick-or-treater and a candy distributor, I would say I know something about a good Halloween costume. Here are the five costumes I’m most excited to see this year, and if I don’t see them, I will be very disappointed.

Cowgirl Barbie

I feel that this one is pretty self-explanatory. The Barbie movie had everyone in a chokehold this summer. Movie theaters across the world were flooded with people in pink. Margot Robbie crushed this role, and she will forever be iconic. If you were ever hoping to be Barbie for Halloween, this is 100% the year.

Taylor swift’s eras

If your dreams were crushed like mine and you didn’t get to go to the Eras Tour this summer, don’t fret! Halloween is another time to dress up like your favorite album (mine is Fearless) and jump up and down to the occasional Taylor song. It’s no secret that everyone is obsessed with Taylor Swift right now, and I hope I see some of her in Blacksburg this Halloween.

the little mermaid

Growing up, I was obsessed with The Little Mermaid. I used to watch it every day after school. I had two Ariel-themed birthday parties, and I would draw myself with red hair until about first grade because I wanted to be her so badly. Halle Bailey’s revival of Ariel brought back so many childhood memories for me, and I know anyone who does this costume will look stunning.

Adam Sandler

This is where my list gets a little wacky. One of my favorite things to do at the moment is dress like Adam Sandler. There is something something so satisfying about dressing up in giant shorts and a giant t-shirt and not having a care in the world. Not only is this costume easy, it’s hilarious. I’m going to be really upset if I don’t see the big Superman t-shirt and baggy blue shorts combo this year.

Any giant inflatable costume

I am a firm believer in any giant inflatable costume being funny. From Among Us characters to outlets, you can be anything in an inflatable costume. While they are a pain to blow up and maintain, any person I see this Halloween in an inflatable suit will be the belle of the ball in my eyes.

I am a first-year student majoring Business, planning to either cncentrate my studies in Cybersecurity Management and Analytics or Marketing Management with a concentration in Digital Marketing Strategy. I spend most of my free time listening to music, going on walks, spending time with my friends, and reminiscing about good old New Jersey bagels.
