Fall is a perfect time for baking and baking is perfect to do alone or with others. Baking is an activity that you can make the most out of, depending on whatever you decide to do. Me personally, well, I’m a sucker for anything seasonal, so what’s even better than baking, is baking a seasonal treat. These are all things you can make this Halloween or fall season. I even added an adventure you can go on to make the most of the fun.

The first thing you’re going to want to do is go to an apple orchard. This is a great fall activity and will give you the necessities to make some great baked goods. After you put on your perfect fall outfit, enjoy the outdoors and the crisp fall air, as well as picking the best apples you can find, you’re going to want to take these apples home and get into chef mode. The first thing you can use the apples to make is a classic apple pie. I personally love apple pie and always have my entire life so I think making your own can be super exciting and hopefully would turn out better than expected. But even if it doesn’t, that is what is also fun about experimenting with new food ideas and recipes. Aside from apple pie there are so many other options including apple cider doughnuts, apple cinnamon rolls, and caramel apples.

Now if you don’t love apples, there are plenty of other options you can make for Halloween. A very popular one this year is a “spooky pizooki.” If you’ve ever been to the restaurant BJ’s, they sell a dessert known as the pizooki. I can atest that this is delicious. What you’re going to want to do to make a spooky themed one is to first bake cookies of your choice. You can either create your own recipe or find one online, or you can buy store bought Halloween-themed cookies and use those. If you make your own, I say using orange or purple food coloring can add to the theme. Then what you’re going to want to do is bake them in a skillet like pan. After they’re cooked, you want to top it with an ice cream of your choice and maybe some Halloween sprinkles and enjoy.

Furthermore, there are easy spooky season snacks you can make. One example is peanut butter spider cookies or brownies. The Reeses’ goes on top and some of the chocolate spreads out to make legs. Then all you have to do is add your eyes. You can make cake pops where that appear like monster eyeballs or ghosts. You can also bake a cake of your choice, whether that be a haunted house theme, vampire blood themed, jack o lantern themed, or even mummy themed. I also think something involving witches is a great choice like baking something in the shape of a witch hat, or even better making a cauldron with a drink inside. I have also seen a super niche one where you bake a chocolate cake and use gummy worms and cookies to make a graveyard with tombstones.

The options are truly limitless, and it truly all comes down to the decorating aspect. This can bring out an artsy side of yourself, and even if you’re not the best at art, it can be so fun to attempt it anyway. This can also be a time-consuming activity so if you find yourself with nothing to do and you’re sitting home bored, try some of these out! You can even turn it into an extravaganza with friends and have a potluck type of hosting event where each friend has to bake something spooky, or of course, you and your friends can just bake together. Cheers to “sweet” holiday. See what I did there!
