I decided I wanted to watch this show as soon as I saw the trailer for it. I love Lizzo and everything she has done for the plus-sized community. I wound up binging the entire show last weekend, and I loved every second of it.

If you don’t know what Watch Out For The Big Grrrls is, let me explain.

Watch Out For The Big Grrrls is a reality competition show where plus-sized women compete to be part of Lizzo’s backup dancers, the “Big Grrrls.”

I loved this show for multiple reasons. One reason I love it is obvious: Lizzo is in it. I love Lizzo’s personality and her confidence. You could tell she really cares about these girls and wants them to shine on stage next to her.

This show was much more than the girls’ dancing talents and the competition. I also learned about the girls and their lives as well as their struggles with body image.

One thing Lizzo wanted the dancers to do was work on themselves. She set up classes where the girls had to focus on themselves, and she set up a nude photoshoot to help the girls build up their confidence.

There were ten spots available for Lizzo’s tour, and by the end of the first one or two episodes, there were ten girls left. However, not all of them made it to the tour. I found this interesting because if there were ten spots, why not just take all the dancers?

At first, I thought that the competition was a bit unnecessary to continue if Lizzo already had all the people she needed for the stage. But, I learned that not all of them were cut out for tour life. Some had to leave based on lack of stamina, one person caused problems with the rest of the girls, and two people just didn’t have what it took at the end of the competition to make it on tour.

I liked every single one of these dancers, and I was rooting for them all.

I really loved this show because I got to see different body types in a setting where they are rarely seen.

As someone who is on the cusp of plus-sized, I don’t normally see bodies like mine on television. It was refreshing to watch a reality show about plus-sized bodies where the main focus is not on their weight and losing it but on their talents and building confidence. Lizzo even states in one episode that working out is not about losing weight, but it is about getting stronger.

Lizzo has always been an inspiration to me, but with this show, she shows the world that you can still be anything you want in a plus-sized body.

Go watch Watch Out For The Big Grrrls on Prime Video.
