The vast world of makeup is full of colors, bright and dark, sparkly and shimmery. And while I do love a hot makeover, I’m quite possibly one of the laziest people I know when it comes to looking presentable. While I certainly don’t go to date parties without brushing my hair or attend meetings in my pajamas — OK I do that sometimes — I tend to lean on the natural side.

I learned pretty early in high school when I started experimenting with my looks that the combination of my light blonde eyebrows and lashes with colored eyeshadows and winged eyeliner looks far from natural on my face. I respect girls who are more adventurous with their makeup routine, but when it comes to me, it’s not my thing. Not to mention, I strongly dislike the feeling of heavy makeup — who doesn’t? I love the bright shadow palettes at Sephora and thoroughly enjoy watching makeup tutorials on YouTube, but to put it simply, I keep my makeup on the bare side.

Ever since I was a young teenager, I’ve struggled with facial acne. There’s nothing worse than feeling like everyone is staring at your pimples, and I felt this way often growing up. Recently, however, I asked myself why. Everyone has acne, after all. In reality, no one is really noticing — just me. That’s why I started researching makeup that’s not only good for my skin chemical-wise but also makes me feel my most natural, beautiful self.

After lots of dabbling with different brand concealers, foundations and powders, I’ve found bareMinerals to be my favorite. This is not a promotional post, but while I’m at it, bareMinerals please sponsor me.

Most of my short makeup routine includes products from bareMinerals, so here’s a little rundown of what I use each day.

I start by moisturizing my face with the bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturizer. Then, I dab some of the bareMinerals Mineral Veil Finishing Powder on oily areas of my face. What I love most about these products is that they give my skin such a dewy glow AND they both have broad-spectrum SPF in them to keep my skin protected against the sun. Genius! I then follow up with the NARS Bronzer Powder to give my skin a warm touch.

I then fill my brows in with the bareMinerals Strength & Length Serum-Infused Brow Gel, swipe my lashes with the L’Oréal Telescopic Mascara and pucker my lips with the Rare Beauty With Gratitude, Dewy Lip Balm in the color “Blessed.” Rare Beauty’s lipstick collection is one of the best I’ve ever used, as it’s cruelty-free and leaves my lips moisturized and perfectly pink.

While my makeup routine is minimal, it gives me so much confidence each day and has even improved my own perception of myself–with and without makeup. I no longer stress about covering every blemish or fine line I have, but focus on embracing my natural beauty from within.

With or without makeup, everyone’s natural self deserves to be shown off. You’re worth it babe.
