2021 had some amazing movies that were released; however, even more of these movies were rescheduled to 2022. This allows movie fans to have even more to look forward to this year in terms of film releases. Below includes the top five most anticipated movies of 2022.

Death on the Nile

Released date: February 11

Directed by: Kenneth Branaugh 

Starring: Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Letitia Wright, Emma Mackey and Russell Brand 

Following the success of Murder on the Orient Express in 2017, Death on the Nile brings back detective Hercule Poirot as he tries to solve another murder.

The Batman

Released date: March 4

Directed by: Matt Reeves 

Starring: Robert Pattinson, Paul Dano, Colin Farrell and Andy Serkis 

Once again we are getting a new Batman movie, but this time with a new lead, Robert Pattinson. The film follows Bruce Wayne in his second year of being Batman and the corruption he uncovers. 

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Released date: May 6

Directed by: Sam Raimi 

Starring: Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olson, Machel McAdams and Benedict Wong 

After waiting almost six years, Marvel fans are finally getting a sequel to the 2016 Doctor Strange movie. The plot follows Dr. Strange after he casts a spell that creates an opening to the multiverse. With the help of Wong and Wanda Maximoff, he needs to save the world from an alternate version of himself.

Directed by: Jordan Peele 

Starring: Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun and Barbie Ferreira 

Peele is back once again for another horror movie. Not much is known about the movie; however, many fans of the director have speculated due to the release of the photo. No matter what the film ends up being about, I am sure most fans can agree that it will be similar to Get Out and Us in terms of the social commentary the film presents.

Starring: Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington and Kate Winslet 

Thirteen years after the original, we are finally getting a sequel to the long-awaited Avatar series. On IMDb, the summary states: “Jake Sully lives with his newfound family formed on the planet of Pandora. Once a familiar threat returns to finish what was previously started, Jake must work with Neytiri and the army of the Na’vi race to protect their planet.”

It almost seems like every year more anticipated movies are being realized than ever before. There are movies that will fit everyone’s preferences. What movie are you most looking forward to?
