I like the season; fall. I don’t love it or hate it but I like it. You see, I didn’t know this was a statement I would have to make but, I have been seeing too much Fall slander on my for you page on TikTok so I decided, you know what? I am going to explain why Fall is a pretty good season.

The Holidays

We have Thanksgiving, Halloween, and Dia De Los Muertos. Now these holidays are each vastly different and you may celebrate one or two or heck all three of them but the thing is….the vibe. They each have a vibe that is so particular…you know? Like it breaks away the mundane and allows for spice — Get it? Spice like pumpkin spice? Like…..You know what I mean— It allows you to spend time with others and celebrate traditions.

The Food

Now let’s sit down, pop a squat, and think about this. Not only do you have drinks like pumpkin spice lattes and apple cider but, let’s talk about the most underrated fall food that 95 percent of people like —and if you don’t, just know I am internally judging you— pier. Listen, there are multiple flavors and it’s something that just sits right. You can eat it hot or cold, with whipped cream or without, and heck if you want you can get fancy and eat it with toppings. It’s ironic. But not just pie, there is more….candy apples. Now, these are what we call seasonal dishes. I really mess with candy apples because they are so fun to make. I love to make them with my grandma when I am home and make them with friends. You can add sprinkles or nuts or anything. The possibilities are literally endless. Also, they just represent a good time. Sure they are sticky and gross but they honestly hit.

The Fall Movies

Okay so you are probably wondering; Brooklyn….what even is a fall movie? Hear me out, I will list some and by the time you hear some of these titles you will be like; OHHHH THAT’S what a fall movie is? And then you will appreciate my genius. Movies like Chicken Run, Fantastic Mr.Fox, Hocus Pocus, The Goonies, and Little Women, …. So what counts as a fall movie? Just a movie you can snuggle up on a cool breezy autumn day. Do you know how there is comfort food? Well, there are also comfort movies and fall movies=comfort films. These types of movies will pop up on ABC or Disney and etcetera. While these movies are available any time there is something that just makes it hit, makes it feel more special, when watching it during the fall. These movies make amazing vibes and curl up on a chilly.

The Activities

Fall allows for so many fresh and fun things to do that can only be accomplished during the season. For example, bonfires? Perfect for cozying up with a friend or significant other. You can roast marshmallows or any kind of fruit, tell spooky stories over the fire, and so forth. And don’t get me started on fall leaf piles. Sure it takes a while to get all those leaves in one pile but the end goal of jumping into them? *Insert chef’s kiss*.  You also have hayrides, corn mazes, and pumpkin picking….shall I go on? It’s just a season where you can do different things outside the norm.

The Perfect Time to be Active

I always have an excuse to not exercise or be active and usually, I am like; it’s rainy, it’s humid, it’s too hot, it’s too cold, I just don’t want to, and so on. But, fall is the perfect temperature to do so though. You can go hiking or camping or biking or kayaking and you can’t really even complain. Also, everyone else is doing the same active activities during this time. It’s a time that you can be active and spend time with family and friends.

The overall aesthetic

There is just something about the season that makes it so aesthetic. The temperature isn’t too hot or cold but just right so you can wear practically anything ranging from skirts to scarves. Also, the trees and plants change into different colors; you see leaves go and turn into beautiful yellows, reds, and oranges. It’s as if you are looking at the world through its own filter. Because of that, it makes it the perfect season to photograph or just go on walks and just….enjoy nature. It makes for a gorgeous landscape. It’s weird to say but fall also has that crisp and just fresh and natural smell to its air. It just has a different vibe where it feels like something new is going to happen every day.

Maybe it’s the Virginian in me, maybe it’s the “I want to prove some people wrong” in me, but I will argue fall is one of the top-tier seasons. Most definitely above Winter at least to me. I am curious though; is anyone seeing fall slander? Is Fall being too romanticized and its dog water? Or am I 100% right and I should publish this in a scientific article…..no? Well, at least I tried. I hope you enjoyed this fun piece and learned to appreciate Fall at least a bit more now.
