What I look forward to the most each fall season, besides curling up in my favorite cozy chair with a Pumpkin Spice Latte and a Dolly Alderton book, is creating fall outfits. I find it therapeutic to scroll through my Pinterest feed looking for outfit inspiration. My favorite part of an outfit is the shoes– Every outfit needs a good pair of shoes.

Adidas spezials & gazelles

If you’re in your Adidas era, this is a sign to add Spezials and Gazelles to your fall shoe rotation. Both are very similar to the trendy Sambas, however, the material of Spezials and Gazelles are suede rather than leather. If you are looking for a bold variety of colors with a slimmer silhouette, I’d recommend these. My favorites are Spezial Handball Baby Blues and Gazelle Collegiate Hazy Green Sky. For the platform girls, Gazelles also come in a platform option– check out Gazelle Bold Pink Glow.

I love how easy it is to change the look of my Adidas shoes whenever I want. To spice up your Adidas, try changing the laces with satin or lace ribbon. I revamped my Adidas Busenitz Navy Gum sneakers with a light blue ribbon and it transformed my shoes.

Adding pins is another way to decorate your shoes. Carefully pull the tongue of the shoe over so it covers the laces. Then, decorate with your favorite pins. My favorite place to get inexpensive, unique pins is the vintage market. It is hosted at Market Square Park (across from 7/11) every second and fourth Sunday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

onitsuka tigers

These shoes are underrated. Onitsuka Tigers are lifestyle shoes, created by Asics and retail for $120. The Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66s achieve that slim, chic silhouette and come in a variety of colors.

Fun fact: Award-winning actress Uma Thurman wore the Classic Yellow Mexico 66s with her iconic yellow jumpsuit in Kill Bill… and who wouldn’t want to match The Bride!

doc marten jorge II suede & leather slingback Mules

Calling all Granola Girls and fans of Birkenstock Clogs! You will definitely enjoy Doc Martens Jorge Suede Slingbacks. These shoes come in three beautiful colors: Rust, Beige and Pale Olive. They retail for $130. Pairing these shoes with your favorite overalls and a Rory Gilmore sweater will achieve the ultimate fall look.

Dark red mary janes

The secret’s out! Dark red is the color for fall. Grab yourself a pair of dark red Madewell Mary Janes ($148), Doc Marten 8065 Mary Janes ($130) or Calvin Klein ($109). These are my favorite mary janes, but you can find these shoes anywhere in different variations.

They are perfect for a night out to the Milk Parlor or a morning stroll through the farmers market. Pair your mary janes with a leather jacket, a mini black skirt and a satin bow to achieve that Ultraviolence look.

maroon cowgirl boots

If you’re a Hokie, you know cowgirl boots are the token shoe for game days. Cowgirl boots match everything and are easily findable. You can buy dark red cowgirl boots on Amazon for $40-$50, or buy them second-hand.

For extra flair, add white and orange satin ribbons then style them with your favorite gameday dress; Don’t forget your pins!. You could also wear them for a night out with a monochrome matching set and a red shoulder bag!
