We all know this has been one long year and we’re ready for it to come to an end. While finals are starting to finish up, it’s almost time to wrap up in blankets with some hot chocolate and watch some Christmas movies. With a year like this, I know we’re all looking forward to having some time to relax. The following Christmas movies are guaranteed to help you get into the holiday spirit after a hectic semester online.

A Christmas Story (1983)

Start your holiday season with one of the all-time classics, the 1983 A Christmas Story. It’s one that is filled with dark humor that makes this film unique. The story is about a young boy, Ralphie Parker, who wants nothing more than a BB gun for Christmas. It shows his hectic life of dealing with his family as well as school bullies in this dark Christmas comedy. It’s one that is on the top of multiple lists and guarantees a few laughs.

The Santa Clause (1994)

This Christmas comedy is sure to win over anyone, even Scrooges. This film takes you on a journey to how Santa Clause becomes who he is when the main character, Scott, accidentally kills him. If you’re in a mode to watch more than one movie, then this is just the one for you. There are two follow up movies that are just as good, or to some, even better.

Home Alone (1990)

This comedy is one that will have the whole family laughing. The film follows a young boy, Kevin, as he is left home alone when his family forgets to take him on their Christmas vacation. During this time, there are two men robbing houses in the neighborhood and sets their eyes on the house Kevin lives in. The movie is full of chaos and tricks that makes it a family favorite.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)

Another comedy is How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It is a classic tale that is based on the book with the same name written by Dr. Seuss. The movie made in 2000 stars Jim Carry and he makes the Grinch come to life with his way of portraying the green character. If you would rather watch an animated movie, there are two others you can choose from. One is a television special that came out in 1966, and the other is a more recent version of the story that came out in 2018.

Elf (2003)

This film is one that will bring you joy and cheer this holiday season. The story follows Buddy, who was transported to the North Pole by accident and was raised there. The film follows his journey back to society and finding his real father. This is a film that guarantees a lot of laughs out of everyone in the family.

Always remember to take some time to yourself to enjoy some me time after a hectic year, semester, and holiday season. Grab a blanket, light a candle and grab a nice drink while you watch a movie. By doing this, it will help you start your holiday season off right. Remember to stay safe and stay warm this winter.
