Celebrities That Had Us Shook at The Met Gala 2017

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Virginia Tech chapter.

Every year the Met Gala is an event that gives celebrities a chance to come up with the most creative dresses they can think of. Each person adds their own style and contributes to the theme of that year, and for the most part has us fawning over their dresses. This year was no different; so many iconic women stood out and wore extravagant, head-turning attire. In case you missed this year’s Met Gala, here are some of the women who had us SHOOK, with their Met Gala dresses.

Kylie Jenner took on a similar dress as Beyonce wore to the 2016 Met Gala, by Versace. Her short, platinum blonde hair and see-through, gem-covered dress still stood out and caught everyone’s eye.

Ruby Rose stepped out in this black and white ruffled Burberry dress. The Orange Is The New Black star, showed off her new dark hair and her expressive arm tattoos, which I’m sure turned heads as she walked through the Met Gala event.

Rihanna, just like always, had everyone in awe with her breathtakingly abstract dress by Comme Des Garçons. No matter what Rihanna wears she always draws attention because of her creative style, but every year us Rihanna fans wait to see how she’ll surprise us at the Met Gala! This year was another successful year, as she was once again one of the Met Gala’s best dressed.

Rita Ora shocked the crowd with this luxurious and innovative dress, that was a custom Marchesa. She looked like an expensive gift to us with her bow, all of her different dress textures and colors and how they smoothly worked together. Her crisp, platinum pixie cut was the cherry on top of her extraordinary outfit at this years’ Met Gala.

Zendaya in a Dolce & Gabbana dress, definitely brought tropical and summer vibes to this year’s Met Gala. Zendaya has become a huge fashion icon and successful model and is always serving LOOKS when she attends events. She didn’t disappoint with her elegant gown, coral lips and bold afro!

Nicki Minaj wore a unique custom H&M dress, and stood out as she always does! Her dress featured an “obi” belt that had the face of Comme des Garçons’s designer Rei Kawakubo, and intricate details on the train of her dress that even had Swarovski crystals at the end. No one ever competes with the level of creativity Nicki puts into her outfits!

Blake lively, (featuring Ryan Reynolds) wore an Atelier Versace dress, that drew immediate attention when she walked through. Her beautiful beaded and feather dress was a combination rarely seen in the fashion world. She even had a powerful burst of color at the bottom with vibrant multi-blue feathers. She looked stylish and tasteful at this years Met Gala and her dress WILL be remembered.

Zoe Kravitz looked stunning with her chic, light pink and black Oscar De La Renta dress. Her dress was sophisticated and bold, but at the same time simplistic. Her dress featured black rose details to act as a shawl and also at the top front of her dress. Once again this bold platinum pixie topped off the outfit and drew attention to Zoe. Her dress made her one of the best dressed at this year’s Met Gala.

As you can see, this was another successful year at the Met Gala and will have people talking about these illustrious celebrities and their dresses, for the next couple of weeks indefinitely!
