The glow of Lane Stadium’s lights paint the path ahead, the sound of footsteps pound in my ears. Sweat glides down my forehead and tickles my back, another run at Tech complete. Each morning, my run through campus is different; different weather, different people and different paths. Throughout Tech’s campus, many trails for running, walking or biking exist. Here are two of my favorites:
Huckleberry Trail: almost six miles of asphalt path that starts from the library and goes to the Christiansburg mall
Pandapas: 3.5 miles away from Blacksburg’s campus with trails that go around Pandpas pond through wooded area
Getting to experience Blacksburg’s scenery is worth the sweat and energy of a run. Especially in fall when the leaves begin to color the campus with orange and yellow and the air becomes perfectly chill. Another plus of running is that it is a great workout, especially in pursuit of avoiding the Freshman Fifteen. On average, one mile burns about 100 calories, which is equivalent to about ½ cup of yogurt.
Whether going for a run to check out Tech’s beauty or to burn off some extra calories, running is a
great way to start the morning off right at peaceful places like the Huckleberry Trail and Pandapas.
