Aside from Thanksgiving, the best way to describe November is “almost December.” For 31 days, we spend most of our free time dreaming about the Christmas season, and holding back from indulging in the festivities too early. Whether counting down the days until Freeform’s 25 Days of Christmas, scrolling through the Christmas queue on Netflix, or impatiently staring at old DVDs on the shelf, nothing hypes up the holidays like a classic Christmas movie. Although it may seem early, it’s never too early to plan the jolliest time of the year. With that being said, I have created a list of the most anticipated classics of the Christmas season.
1. Santa Claus is Comin to Town
The only animated movie that matters.
2. Elf
Should this even count as a Christmas movie? I’m pretty sure I willingly watched it in May.
3. The Santa Claus movies
Setting unrealistic expectations for hot chocolate since 1994.
4. Disney’s A Christmas Carol
I’m not sure how, but Disney managed to create humor in a tale about ghosts and a Christmas-hating grouch.
5. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
The most important advocate for the anti-bullying campaign.
6. A Year Without a Santa Claus
If you didn’t cry at the girl singing Blue Christmas you’re just lying.
7. How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Still trying to figure out where to adopt a baby Grinch.
8. It’s a Wonderful Life
Despite the title, it was a terrible life for George Bailey; well, at least until the last five minutes of the movie.
9. A Christmas Story
If you haven’t seen this movie I’ll shoot your eye out.
10. Home Alone
Kevin McAllister began every little girl’s attraction to bad boys. That is, until real people Peter Pan was released.
11. A Charlie Brown Christmas
I know, the song is playing in your head as you read this.
Let’s be honest, the list of Christmas classics could go on for days. If you’re anything like me, I can watch any movie with the slightest hint of holiday joy and get insanely hyped for Christmastime. We are one month away from December, so get your jingle bell playlists and fuzzy socks ready for the happiest month of the year.
