Lizzy Grant, better known as famous indie music artist Lana Del Rey, is an absolute icon and a “mother” to Generation Z. She was singing and songwriting for a few years before ever getting a taste of fame. Her breakout song, Video Games, was released in 2011, which launched her career. Since then, Lana has won 40 awards, including Grammys, Golden Globes and MTV Music Awards. In addition, Lana has a long discography, including nine albums and a multitude of singles. She has opened up a new realm of music that inspires young women to speak out about their emotions and feel seen.

I remember when I first listened to Lana Del Rey when I was in middle school. I was going through that slightly emo phase, you know, the phase where you listen to a lot of Melanie Martinez, Panic! At the Disco, and Twenty One Pilots. I first heard her album, Ultraviolence, and knew it differed from the rest. Lana is the type of artist that truly relates to and understands young women.

Even at the age of 12, I felt connected to Lana’s music. I didn’t fully understand what all of her lyrics meant at the time, but as I grew, her music grew with me. In her music, she talks about romance and love in such a devastatingly beautiful way. Most of her discography talks about men and how they treat women in relationships.

At the age of twenty, I now resonate with Lana more than ever before. Her music touches my soul and makes me feel like I’m not totally crazy and delusional. I listen to Lana’s music every day, and I never get tired of it!

Here are my Top 10 Favorite Songs by Lana Del Rey:

  1. Chemtrails Over The Country Club
  2. West Coast
  3. The Other Woman
  4. Paris, Texas (feat. SYML)
  5. Cherry
  6. Art Deco
  7. Norman f***ing Rockwell
  8. Let The Light In (feat. Father John Misty)
  9. Video Games
  10. Salvatore

I would highly recommend giving these songs, and all of her songs, a listen if you get the chance! She is by far my favorite artist and is simply serving her mother! I hope you enjoy her music just as much as I do, thank you Lana!
