As college students, it is safe to say that most of us run solely on caffeine. Some nights you have to stay up late to grind out that final paper but regret that decision in the morning. I think that someone’s coffee order says a lot about their personality, even if they don’t fully recognize it.
First, there are three different broad types of coffee drinkers: the Starbucks lover, the Dunkin lover and the one who makes their coffee at home. I’m a full-blown Starbucks lover. The Starbucks lover is just a little extra in their purchases and has the material girl mindset.
The Dunkin lover just wants a good cup of coffee for a low price; respectable. The Dunkin lover is also extremely loyal and a friend that you can count on because Dunkin stans do not come to play. The one who makes their coffee at home has their life together and probably owns a Keurig. They might think that they are better than everyone else, but that’s okay because they probably are.
Now, to explore the specific coffee orders. Beginning with cold brew, this person is a boss babe who has their life together. They can drink their coffee black or with a little creamer and take it like an absolute champ. On the other side of the spectrum, we have Frappuccino drinkers. These people are either literal children or have an insane sweet tooth. These Frappuccino lovers are super fun and bubbly but may be immature in more ways than just their palette.
Then there’s the caramel macchiato, the favorite drink of Her Campus at VCU! The caramel macchiato drinkers know exactly what they are doing with the perfect amount of sweet and bitter in one delicious drink. These people enjoy having fun and can be adventurous but are aware of their limitations. Next, we have our latte baddies. Currently, I’m on my latte wave, and I love it! Lattes are a slight upgrade from cold brew and are just so yummy. Those who love lattes are similar to the cold brew drinkers in being very put together but have a bit more flair and sass to their personality.
Next, we will be entering the sub-category of hot versus cold beverages. Personally, I cannot even drink hot coffee or any caffeinated beverage. For some reason, it just grosses me out and makes my skin absolutely crawl. However, I have always believed that hot coffee drinkers are total adults. Hot coffee lovers are grown and know it. In comparison, iced coffee drinks are for young people that just need to be a bit freer in their coffee enjoyment.
I also want to nod to all of my tea lovers out there. I definitely love tea here and there! Tea lovers give me hippy vibes, and I am so here for it. Tea is for the people who could go with or without caffeine and would be completely fine. Lowkey, I think that tea people may be the most superior category of them all and deserve some applause and appreciation.
At the end of the day, regardless of your coffee order, we all have to get our caffeine somehow! You are valid in your order, and keep rocking on! You got this, and try your best to take care of yourself during finals week!
