Ways to Spend Time Outside this Spring

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at VCU chapter.

Now marks the time of year when campus starts to get much more lively — the winter weather is finally disappearing and it’s starting to get warmer out!

Put away the brown boots and bring out your sandals. Fold the warm blanket and step outside!

We all suffered a horrid winter so why not make the most out of the spring season? There are so many things you can do instead of rotting away indoors.

The warm weather is the perfect chance to take advantage of all the great things the VCU campus has to offer. Belle Isle is about a 10 minute walk from campus and it is so worth it. So many students love traveling down there when the weather is just right. You can take a walk or run through trails or just tan on the rocks with your feet in the water.

You’ll also get some really good Instagram posts out of it!

If you are more of a homebody, open your windows and let in the fresh air. Play some good vibes music or even clean out all those winter coats and cardigans and exchange them for the maxi dresses.

Grab a few friends to take on a miniature road trip to Carytown. Enjoy a burger or just shop around in the warm weather.

Go to Monroe Park and take your chances slacklining or play catch with a few friends. Monroe Park is right in the middle of campus and the perfect place to lay back on a blanket in the sun while you watch all the campus cuties walk by.

Spring does not mean you have to completely give up your guilty pleasures like Netflix. Instead of cuddling in the bed with your laptop watching movies, grab a few snacks and your laptop and find a nice spot by the Compass or the Commons Plaza and enjoy your Netflix watching.

Whatever it is you decide to do with your time this spring, make sure you just spend the least amount of time inside — go outdoors and live!
