This year VCU will join several other schools in the tradition of a fall homecoming. Historically, VCU’s Homecoming occurred during the spring semester. The decision to move homecoming was a collaborative effort lead by Alumni Relations and Athletics with support from the student homecoming committee. The change should improve weather conditions for various events and is expected to increase attendance. The fall weather should also allow for more outdoor activities like a parade and tailgate.

The shift to the fall semester made homecoming committee a year round organization. The preparations for this year’s homecoming events began in May. Previously, the committee was responsible for planning homecoming, but now they will plan Homecoming for the fall semester and a spirit week in the spring semester.

This year’s Homecoming events are already underway with the Homecoming Reveal Party that occurred on Sept. 18 and the concert that will be on Nov. 12, featuring PartyNextDoor, Rae Sremmurd, JMSN and Bad Rabbits.

Homecoming week will run from November 8-14. For more information and a list of events, click here
