It’s that time of the year again when our pumpkin spice senses are tingling and we look for every reason to munch on something with chocolate in it. There are so many great fall recipes out there but many of them require an extensive list of ingredients that we may not have or be able to afford. Being in college can really take a toll on our wallets, so here are some simple and delicious fall recipes that only require five ingredients or less (Tip: most of these ingredients can be found at the dollar store). Your roommates will thank you.

1. S’mores

These are a campfire favorite. They’re such a classic and you can even make them right in your apartment (messiness still applies).

You’ll need:

  • Four graham crackers

  • 1/4 cup of mini marshmallows

  • a Hershey’s milk chocolate bar

Apply the marshmallows upon the graham crackers evenly.

Toast them in a toaster oven or regular oven on 350 degrees for two minutes or until golden browned. Be sure to watch them closely as marshmallows tend to heat up quickly.

Add the Hershey’s chocolate and anything else you want to go inside the sandwich.

Top the half sandwich with a final graham cracker. Then take a picture for the ‘gram and show all of your friends!

2. Apple Pie Roll-Ups

Apple Pie Roll-Ups are a quick and easy twist on apple pie. It’s the perfect way to get that craving out of the way and even take to a study session or a girl’s night in.

You will need:

  • Two slices of flattened white bread, crusts removed

  • 1/4 cup apple pie filling

  • One teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • Two tablespoons of sugar

  • 1/4 cup of melted butter

Fill the flattened bread pieces with some of the apple pie filling. Don’t put too much or they won’t roll evenly.

Roll the pieces of bread into logs. Apple pie filling may ooze from the corners, but that is okay.

Dip the roll-ups into the melted butter. Mix together the cinnamon and sugar then sprinkle the mixture evenly on the roll-ups.

Pop them into a toaster oven or regular oven on 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown and crispy on the outside.

These roll-ups will be hot once out of the oven so make sure to let them cool off. Enjoy!

(Note: These recipes yield for two servings. Double up on ingredients if needed!)
