Trending TikTok Decor That Will Help You Transform Your Space

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at VCU chapter.

If you’re anticipating winter break but don’t have any plans and are more of a homebody, you could redecorate your bedroom based on the current most popular TikTok decor right now. A mixture of ideas, suggestions, and DIY’s, these tips will help you make your room unrecognizable and ready to ring in the new year with a fresh face!

Accessories, accessories, accessories

Smaller furniture items or room accessories are simple but surefire ways to change any space. If you don’t have the money to splurge on new furniture, at least pick up one of these trendy pieces to help transform your room. Some current popular favorites I’ve noticed on Tiktok range anywhere from plants to lamps to even beauty products.

First, you’re going to want to find a print or two that you like and hang it up on your wall. The simpler and more like a poster the print is, the better! To continue accessorizing the wall, take some artificial vines and create a frame around your room by hanging them on the ceiling. Next, choose some lighting. You can get a glass mushroom-shaped light or even a glowing orb light to put on your nightstand.

color palettes

Color palettes can make or break a room. A noticeable trend is keeping the color palette minimal while creating an artistic vibe for the room using accessories like previously mentioned. If you want to take this route, it’s best to stick to neutral colors such as white, eggshell, beige, and even tan. On the opposite end of the color spectrum, bright, vivid colors are also gaining more popularity. Take whatever you want to call Victoria Paris’s apartment, for example.

Brightly colored, clashing, eclectic are all choice words to describe her new New York City apartment. Her vision came from someone else’s completed kitchen, but knowing Victoria, she had to put her own spin on things. Her bright green cabinets, combined with the colorful backsplash, take colors that don’t necessarily match but work well together. If you’re more of a colorful person than a neutrals kind of gal, take the Victoria Paris approach to your color palette. This approach works perfectly for anyone who still has the same bright aqua walls in their bedroom from 2008 and doesn’t want to take the time to repaint.

Furniture

Can’t quite seem to find the perfect color palette or accessories to tie the room together? Try splurging on a staple piece instead. Furniture is the number one way to express who you are in the decor world. If you want to completely re-do your room down to the bones, you’ll want to buy new furniture.

Still, on the same Victoria Paris apartment concept, she mixes and matches her furniture with no rhyme or reason, combining both color and texture by choosing furniture that just feels right. If you need more specific ideas, tile/backsplash theme furniture is easy to DIY and can transform a room. Just take an old desk, bedside table, or dresser, and small square tiles the color of your choice. Cover the furniture in the tiles, and you have just created an entirely different piece of furniture.

Just by using these three concepts and recognizing current Tiktok decor trends, your winter break will fly by!
