Whether you are hosting or attending a Friendsgiving, or making a trip back home to visit family, Thanksgiving is a time to reconnect with those around you, no matter who you spend the day with. There are so many things to worry about when it comes to the holidays: that one family member, what you should bring to the potluck, travel plans that are falling apart. Your outfit shouldn’t cause you excess stress in the middle of everything else.

Dressing comfortably is essential to getting ready for Thanksgiving. Many families play sports, do volunteer work, or help friends or family members in the kitchen, so wearing clothes that are comfortable is necessary, especially if you plan to stuff yourself like I do.

You want your outfit to be both fashionable and festive, so I have compiled a list of ways to make your Thanksgiving outfit a little more perfect.

Start With An Autumn Color Palette And Prints

When choosing garments and outfits to wear for the holidays, begin with the color palette for that season. For Thanksgiving, consider colors like burnt orange, mustard yellow, olive green, and maroon are colors that are in style right now, so you can’t go wrong with planning your outfit with garments that incorporate these colors. If you are feeling especially bold this holiday season, try mixing in prints with the color palette you choose to work with. Animal patterns, such as cheetah, snake, and leopard, are particularly en vogue this fall, so attempting to add them to your outfits will make you look exceptionally fashionable.

Wear A Cardigan Or Opt For A Sweater With Interesting Details

Instead of wearing your typical hoodie to Thanksgiving, wear a cardigan instead to add some flair to your outfit, while still keeping your arms warm. Cardigans are a way to make your outfit fashionable, but still cozy. Traditional sweaters are a bit mundane. Off the shoulder sweaters with a twist front or a cutout back or even a turtleneck add more interest to an outfit than a simple pull over sweater. They draw the eye and catch attention.

Jeans Are Never A Bad Option

Denim is always in trend and will not be going anywhere anytime soon. Depending on the overall look of your outfit, you may choose to go with ripped jeans or a darker wash, but if you are at a standstill in your outfit planning, jeans go with any outfit and are always in style.

Throw On A Pair Of Boots

I am a firm believer that shoes can make or break an outfit. Choosing the right pair of shoes can make a good outfit fantastic and bring the entire look together. Your shoes should match the look of the outfit and what better shoe to choose for a Thanksgiving outfit than a pair of stylish boots? Boots come in so many styles and colors there is no way you wouldn’t be able to find a pair to go with your outfit.

Don’t Forget Accessories

Accessories are the cherry on top of your outfit. They aren’t always necessary, but sometimes they don’t hurt. Earrings are always easy to throw on or a statement hair clip, just make sure you don’t overdo it with accessories.
