It’s that time of year again when you start browsing social media for summer travel inspo and suddenly your chrome tabs are taken up by Google Flights and Trip Advisor The best feeling.
But, the hardest part is deciding where to go. If you’re looking for the best “Hot Girl Summer” destination, Miami is calling your name – literally, in my case (more on that later). With its sunny beaches, buzzing nightlife, and so many places to relax, this city has something for almost everyone. Last summer, I soaked up everything Miami had to offer, and trust me, the energy was so unmatched that it felt like the whole city was on vacation with you.Â
First off, let’s start with the obvious: the heat. Miami in the summer is HOT – so hot, you’ll be reaching for frozen cocktails faster than you can say, “South Beach.”Â
Ah, South Beach. This iconic stretch of sand and waves isn’t just a beach – it’s an oasis to me. Spend time lounging under umbrellas, splashing in the clear blue water, or people-watching along Ocean Drive. The vibe is chill yet glamorous, and it’s definitely the quintessential summer escape.
But, Miami isn’t just about daytime adventures: the city becomes absolutely alive at night. Miami nightlife continues to be nothing short of legendary. One of my favorite spots was Serena Rooftop, an open-air restaurant that just so happened to be my namesake (because obviously a place named Serena was going to be” a-maz-ing”). The twinkling string lights and beautiful view crafted the perfect dining experience. If you love a good ambiance and yummy food, this place is a must.
And, I can’t forget the Miami Design District: perfect for anyone with an eye for style. Think luxury boutiques, avant-garde art, and the chicest cafes. Stopping at the Dior CafĂ© for an iced latte (100% recommended) and taking pictures next to modern art sculptures? It doesn’t get more “Hot Girl Summer” than that.Â
For a quiet escape from the city noise, Vizcaya Gardens was like stepping into a tropical forest fairytale for me. I spent an afternoon wandering through koi ponds and palm tree greenery, even spotting a peacock wandering around a local neighborhood.Â
But the cherry on top of my Miami trip? The Most Wanted Tour with Bad Bunny on his opening night in Miami. Dancing and singing along to his hits in a packed stadium, surrounded by fans who are just as hyped as you screamed Hot Girl Summer. It was definitely a night I’ll never forget. If concerts are your thing, Miami always seems to host the biggest and best shows, so check the schedule before you visit!
