Products Under $50 From High-Priced Brands

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at VCU chapter.

Since the start of quarantine, I’ve been on the hunt. I’m not hunting for wild animals (ew) or for the perfect coffee shop that’s within walking distance of my new apartment. I’m searching for inexpensive items that are of good quality and can help me upgrade my closet. Some have said that my search is pointless or impossible, but I’m here to tell you that I’ve succeeded. During those laborious days of sitting inside and doing my part to not spread COVID-19, I stumbled upon my own Ark of the Covenant. Here are five high-end websites with affordable options to help you improve your closet.

Aritzia

This Canadian company is known for their clean designs and sleek silhouettes. While also providing a great assortment of affordable basics ranging from baby tees and tank tops to luxurious bodysuits. If you’re looking to upgrade your tired Forever21 tank tops, briefly scroll through Aritzia’s website to find their Apollo Tank. This tank top is a classic scoop neck that can help elevate anyone’s closet.

& Other Stories

For the upcoming fall season, & Other Stories has an affordable selection of colorful mock neck sweaters. Rather than sticking to the same greys and brown tones of autumn, try wearing a sweater that resembles spring’s color scheme. Pastel colors and monochromatic outfits are still in for this season, so take advantage of & Other Stories’ bright colors.

Girlfriend Collective

For a more sustainable and affordable option, try Girlfriend Collective, a company focused on providing recycled clothing to all of its customers. Girlfriend Collective has great athletic wear options that won’t break your budget. Quarantine is a great time to expand your leisurewear, so check out Girlfriend Collective’s affordable sports bras and biker shorts. Their affordable leisure line will make you want to stay inside.

Oak and Fort

During my grueling search for quality pieces of clothing without the obnoxious price tag, I turned to Instagram to help aid my search. Oak and Fort was a gem in the rough, and while this may seem like another minimalist clothing company, Oak and Fort has a number of quality pieces with an affordable price tag. The company has new and unique items that can give your wardrobe a chic look. The models are draped in modern neutrals with pristine silhouettes. For only $28, try adding this mesh blouse to your closet for an inexpensive Parisian look.

These affordable options not only prepared me for the back to school season, but they did it without me spending an exorbitant amount of money. Oak and Fort, Aritzia, & Other Stories and the Girlfriend Collective can transform your wardrobe with their affordable options. Now there’s no need to worry about going over your budget when you decide to purchase quality clothing items.
