NYC Assassin: Cool Cosplayer from the Big City

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at VCU chapter.

NYC is arguably one of the best cities in the United States. I absolutely love it. I also love cosplay. There just so happens to be some pretty awesome cosplayers up north. I had the opportunity to interview cool cosplayer NYC Assassin about his craft via email, so please enjoy!

Age: 27

Favorite Food: Chicken Cutlets

Please tell us a little bit about yourself!

My name is Chris, I’m from Queens, NYC. I enjoy exercise, walks in Downtown Manhattan, spending time with my girlfriend, comics, games, and of course, cosplay. I’ve been Cosplaying since late 2011.

If you could control time, what would you do and why?

I would probably go back in time to when I was 16 and inform myself everything leading up to now, in the hopes of making better decisions along the line.

What random acts of kindness and beauty have you seen or done in the cosplay community?

I would sometimes see other friends costumes of armor come apart by lack of glue on something like armor, but thankfully there’s always that one friend who’s carrying super glue to help with quick repairs.

What are some negative interactions you have personally had in the cosplay/convention community and how did you overcome them?

Being around people who maybe have some sort of drama nonsense following them. I make sure to help keep them in a positive mood and to not let anything get them down. We’re here to enjoy our weekend not waste it on petty people.

What are some of your favorite cosplays? Do you create your own? What is it like to make them?

I’ve been making my own costumes since last year, before that I was commissioning costumes until I decided to learn the skills necessity to make things myself. It’s creative and fun, allows me to think and I really enjoy that aspect of it. It definitely gives you a better perspective on how much time, effort and money goes into making things.

What celebrity would you want to cook breakfast with and why?

I probably would want to sit and cook with Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee was a great man within an interesting philosophy towards martial arts, mental and physical health, and life, I’d love to learn more from the man and be further inspired by his ways.
