It is nearly impossible for me to go a day without listening to music, and I am sure many people can agree with that. Music can influence our moods throughout the day, and it is not common to listen to certain songs or types of music to get into a specific mood. This is my mini playlist of songs that I am listening to so I can get into the fall mood!

“Dynamite” by BTS

This all-English song by the South Korean mega boy group is the last taste of summer that we can all enjoy. I am a huge stan (active fan) of the group and always deeply indulge in their music on a daily basis. This song gives off the biggest summer vibes, both through the song and music video. The song closes off the summer perfectly with a groovy bass line throughout the song and soft trumpets in the background in the second half of the song. You can easily sway along with this song on its first listen and take in the calm and serene tone. The music video is just all seven members enjoying themselves and dancing a routine in a world made of soft pastels. It is the perfect song to close out summer and start getting ready for fall.

“September” by Earth, Wind & Fire

If you don’t listen to this song on Sep. 21, that is a wasted opportunity. The month of September is the door opening into chilly weather, transitioning from iced coffee to hot lattes and burying yourself in blankets. This song does not have the soft, fall vibes at all, but when I hear this song, it just reminds me of how exciting September is as the first month of the autumn season. The soft opening before the explosion right before the first verse builds up your excitement for the rest of the song and the season. It is the perfect song to dance to and enjoy before settling down with a hot drink and a movie to watch during the chilly night.

“Sweater Weather” by The Neighborhood

This song has become a bisexual anthem but also the song that defines the season of fall. “Sweater Weather” is a song that exploded in 2013 and anyone who listened to it at its peak still sings along with the lyrics. The music in this song has this soft of haziness when you listen to it and gives this feeling of lightness. I always imagine myself walking down an empty sidewalk in a big city during the early morning while sipping along to a hot coffee and wearing a sweater (obviously) and a thick knitted scarf. The bridge and the rest of the song is significantly softer than the beginning, which reminds me so much of the foggy autumn mornings I saw while driving to school.

“Haunting” by Halsey

Haunting is a song by Halsey, which is one of my favorite songs of all time from her discography. Every time autumn comes around, it is also the return of the spooky season. Although this is not a song made specifically for Halloween, Haunting gives off a sinister and chilling tone while she begs for her former lover to “keep on haunting” her. We know that ghosts are capable of haunting people who they have unfinished business with, which is a very strong ideal that has ties to Halloween. Just stan Halsey. That’s it.

“Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy” by Fall Out Boy

I am using this song just to include Fall Out Boy because their music is god-tier, and I love them with my entire heart (the title says the word autumn, so I am using the title as my excuse). The title is a play off of Grand Theft Auto, and the song is about things done by someone the speaker cares about and is in love with him. “Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy” is not their most hardcore emo song, but it is during their emo days in the early 2000s. I love listening to this song because it gets me super pumped up. During the colder months, I get really sad over the fact that sometimes it gets too cold to go out and hang out with my friends. I just blast this song and have a dance party in my room while screaming the lyrics. I love listening to this song because it always puts me in a good mood no matter what.
