Netflix has a wide variety of shows available for viewers to watch, but the Netflix Original shows are among the most interesting of the options. The type of content Netflix provides is different from anything I’d find on any other platform. I can count on pretty much any Netflix Original show being binge-worthy, but here are my top five favorite Netflix Original shows of all time!

“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”

I absolutely love supernatural dramas! I mean, what can I say? I was alive during the “Twilight” era, so it only makes sense. This show is about a teenage girl named Sabrina, who is trying to figure out how to balance her life as a witch and a mortal. She’s being pulled in one direction by her mortal friends who are familiar with one side of her, and being pulled in the other direction by her family and coven who expect her to uphold their sacred traditions.

The show is packed with humor, drama, and romance. You never really know what characters are going to end up together because, as each episode goes on, each relationship changes. The show catches you off guard with some of its pairings, but that’s part of the fun! I love that the characters in this show pretty much have no real boundaries and that I never know what to expect from them. There’s always some unforeseen event that’s about to occur to cause more havoc, and the show is honestly pure chaos. The chaotic nature of it keeps me on the edge of my seat, though, which is why I always look forward to a new season being released!

“On My Block”

“On My Block” just pulls at my heartstrings and makes me laugh like no other show. I’m a sucker for forbidden romances, and this show knows exactly how to string you along and get you invested, then make everything blows up in your face. The cast is very diverse, which is one of the elements that initially drew me to the show, but I was wary at first of watching a show about some kids that are just entering high school. The issues that are referenced in the show are very relatable, though, and people of all ages can easily get invested in the show.

“On My Block” follows the lives of a group of friends who are trying to navigate the different struggles of adolescence while also dealing with the different problems that they encounter because they reside in a lower-income community that has a high gang presence. This show is riddled with drama, and the characters encounter problems at every turn; there’s plenty of humor and romance as well. All of the characters have very unique personalities and the things they say and do leave me dying with laughter. This show is definitely a gem, and I binge any new season right after it comes out.

“You”

“You” is a psychological thriller that keeps you on your toes and wanting more. The show follows the life of a man named Joe, who has a tendency to become obsessed with women that he believes to be his ideal mate. He is willing to do anything to be with them and resorts to extreme measures to get what he wants. Although his character is very sinister and hurts many people throughout the show, he isn’t entirely void of compassion, which leads some people that watch to root for him. I personally just love to watch the chaos that follows him, and although I recognize that he isn’t a good person, I enjoy watching him find his way out of the predicaments he gets himself into. Watching the villain wreck havoc can be pretty entertaining.

“Lost In Space”

“Lost In Space” is a great science fiction show that will get you attached to its characters. The show follows people who have left Earth and been sent to space to live. The command spaceship that the people resided on tore apart, and most of the show follows the displaced people’s attempts to find their command ship and be reunited with the people they left. The characters reside on a number of different planets that are not equipped for long term survival, and they have to find ways to stay alive.

The characters are all very smart and find creative ways to prolong their lives, some in more selfish and evil manners than others. Nonetheless, the characters are all very complex and will both infuriate you and leave you close to tears when their lives are at risk. The character development in this show is astounding, and I would often find myself starting to begrudgingly admire the characters I once hated.

If you haven’t seen any of these shows I highly recommend that you check them out!
