Neon lights, a beautiful gallery, and faces you can’t forget flaunted the runway this year during Couture Fashion week. At the start of the show, I was encapsulated by the opera singer’s opening act as well as the first round of music accompanying the lively shows that were soon to follow. The dramatic music made the garments turn into more then just an embellished piece of fabric, but a form of expression that can only be achieved through careful preparation.

Models from all over the world wore the avant-garde silhouettes shown, and their diverse looks accentuated the piece of art each one represented. Each model’s hair and make-up was done in an elaborated fashion that worked as an accessory to each individual. While walking down the runway, they strut to the pace of the music and when stopped to pose, the flashing lights of the press sparked the room. In conclusion each show, the models walked out together  — followed by the designer — wearing the most eccentric silhouette.

After all the designers had presented their silhouettes and each show was over, the models were  rushed to the red carpet. Models lined up along with designers and were continuously photographed until the press was forced to leave. This was one of the most exhilarating parts of the show because models were frantically running around trying to please the press but at the same time, many of them were booked for other designer’s shows scheduled next. I had to literarily grab the models from the press and run them backstage to embark on another round of hair and make-up before the next show.

The styles represented were unique in many aspects because they incorporated the latest trends from all around the world. My favorite part of each show was seeing how graceful the models presented each garment; they all appeared to be floating down the runway while wearing 4 inch heals and an enormous amount of fabric. Seeing the beauty of couture fashion is an experience I think anyone who is interested should see with his or her own eyes. The imagery of it all is something that can’t be forgotten and if another opportunity arises—I will be there!
