Dining in college is sometimes hard to handle. Ramen noodles and cafeteria food turn old, quick; and then all the food we crave breaks our wallet! However, we’re lucky to have one thing here at VCU most universities in Virginia lack — options! To our benefit, VCU is an urban university with restaurants in and around campus to choose from. Why not venture away from campus and try it out? To help you, I explored a few hot spots that are walking or biking distance from campus that won’t hurt your wallet!

  • Monday:

Little Mexico offers $1.00 taco nights.

If you’re not feeling tacos, there’s $1.oo hamburgers and $2.00 cheeseburger nights at Capital Ale House.

Belly Timber, which is located on Main Street, also offers a burger special for $5.00.

Then, across from the 500 AC Building, The Village offers a special Monday-Thursday. On Monday night, The Village offers $8.00 roast beef sandwhiches.

  • Tuesday:

For dinner, Buffalo Wild Wings sells wings for only 30 cents per wing.

Another option is City Dogs, also located on Main Street, which offers $2.00 hot dogs.

The Village sells $8.00 ribs.

  • Wednesday:
  • Little Mexico offers $1.00 enchilada nights.

The Village sells $8.00 fried chicken.

    • Thursday:

Try a slice of pizza from Piccolas for only $3.00.

On Thursday, The Village offers a lasagna special for $8.00.

    • The weekend:

The Village sells sausage and gravy with biscuits for only $5.00 — a perfect breakfast or  late lunch!

If none of these options appeal to your taste-buds or budget, there is always the option of grocery shopping at Kroger. Dining at home is helpful when it comes to saving money! You can buy more for less and plus there’s a larger selection to choose from.
