Are you still trying to decide on a costume before Halloween this Thursday? Me too. I dont know about you guys but I am an avid procrastinator. I wait until the last minute to do everything! For Halloween this year I swallowed my pride and convinced myself that I was not going to endulge in my childhood fantasty of being Pocahontas from Disney. I told myself that I was going to try a more “advanced” costume. However, no matter what kind of costume you choose, your makeup is the ribbon that ties the package together. It must have conviction and uniqueness! If you can’t decide between the “80s girl” and the infamous “witch” with the caked green face, I am here to give you some revamped, spooky, yet still sexy ideas that are sure to steal the show. The best thing about these ideas is that the only thing you need to bring them to life is your make-up bag! Awesome, right? So grab that bag and let’s get goin’ girls!

Let’s start with something very simple – the wicked “Evil Queen”. This look was created by makeup artist Kristofer Buckle and only requires you to use concealor, gel liner, red lipstick and false lashes, You don’t need any special cosmetics or fancy tools to nail this one!

  • Lets get started! First, apply concealor all over face (brows and lips included), and set with a powder.
  • Trace “new” eyebrows about a half inch above your real ones with black gel liner and a small angle brush. Use black eye shadow to go over your natural brows and smudge the shadow outwards to create a smokey effect. Use your gel liner to create an extra, EXTRA bold cat eye; fill it in, leaving the inner corner blank.
  • Using a small, angled lip brush, apply red lipstick above natural eyebrows and underneath cat eyes. Smudge with fingers as needed. With a sponge applicator, dab white eye shadow on brows as well, above the red to create density.
  • Using a blush brush, apply black eye shadow underneath cheekbones. Add pink blush on cheekbones, and then blend them together as needed with brush. This will act as a contour to define your cheekbones.
  • Paint on eyelashes with a small brush and gel liner. Dab white shadow on inner corners of eyes and between cat eyes and natural and drawn-on brows. Brush red lipstick at inner corners.
  • Using brush, outline lips with black gel liner; fill in a bit of black at the bow of the upper lip and at the bottom of the lower. Brush red lipstick in center, and smudge out to blend.

You’re now ready to sit on your throne, you evil thing you!

The following looks are a little tricky to explain verbally so I uploaded some YouTube tutorials to help you all get more in-depth clarification. I’ve looked up a list of themes ranging from a “Sexy Vampire” (True Blood inspired) to a “Comic Book/Pop Art Princessl.” Remember, these are super easy and take no more than 20 minutes to complete. If you are nervous about trying to do the makeup yourself, grab a friend and have them do it for you. It is always easier to do someone else’s makeup rather than your own. Have fun collegiettes!
