If you are reading this article, we probably have one thing in common: dying your hair unnatural colors like it is a religion. However, this can create a little problem when we encounter Halloween because it is, from my personal experience, so hard to find a costume that will go with my hair.

Red

Red hair is probably one of the easier colors because you can do anything from your own spin-off from the Queen of Hearts from “Alice in Wonderland,” to Miss Argentina from “Beetlejuice.” There are a variety of possibilities with this hair color. You could even manipulate your hair to make it seem like fire.

Orange

This is my current color. I have decided to do Tex Avery’s Red Hot Riding Hood for my costume this year. I had several other ideas, though, such as Starfire from “Teen Titans” or Leeloo from “Fifth Element.” Just like the red hair color, you can manipulate this to make it look like fire.

Yellow

When I say yellow, I am not talking about blonde. I am talking about electric yellow. This yellow would be absolutely perfect for Pikachu, and if you have a group of friends with colorful hair, you guys can go as different Pokemon. I have also noticed that a handful of cartoon characters, including Tinkerbell, have really bright hair, so this might be a little easier than the rest.

Green

This color is perfect for a character from one of the most iconic Halloween movies, Beetlejuice, from “Beetlejuice.” Or if you are not feeling that, you could always go as one of the Jokers from the DC Universe. In addition to this, there are tons of anime characters with green hair.

Blue

A second iconic Halloween movie pops up in my mind as I think of blue hair: “Coraline.” Her navy blue hair and outfit are extremely recognizable, and anyone would be able to tell who you are. Moreover, you could also be Emily from “Corpse Bride.”

Purple

Purple has always reminded me of Raven from “Teen Titans,” and I think it could be a great group costume if paired with someone with orange or pink hair to be Starfire. In addition, you could also be Violet from “Ultraviolet” or Hit Girl from “Kickass.”

Pink

Pink hair is something I see a lot around campus, so I am excited to see what people do. One suggestion I have for this is the Riddler, who again is from the DC Universe. You could also be Alice from “Closer.” Like green, this hair color has its fair share of anime characters with it.

There are also characters who change their hair frequently, like Ramona Flowers in “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” and Clementine from “The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.” Keep in mind when looking for costumes, gender is a social construct, and you can do whatever you would like to! Whatever costume you decided to go with, remember to stay safe and have fun during Halloween this year.
