Couture Fashion Week 2011 was held at the Waldorf, Astoria from September 16th-18th that of which included the most prestigious designers from all over the world. Pictures cannot translate how captivating these garments truly were until you see them your own eyes – true art. It was impeccable how different each collection was and the message sent out by each individual designer varied drastically. The garments almost seemed alive while being flaunted down the runway by the various models and theatrical music accompanying them.

Many of the outfits presented at Couture Fashion Week are typical of those seen at the Oscars, Emmys and other red carpet events held annually. Many are well within the reach of the typical day-to-day “fashionista” others are designed for strictly the royal class. According to the media several past participating designers have sold gowns for over $1 million to private clients. Haya Al Houti was one of my personal favorites because her collection catered to intricately designed high couture dresses that represented not only a classic silhouette but incorporated a modern style. Another designer that stood out to me was Suzie Turner who incorporated an outfit for almost any occasion and ended with a standing ovation on her last two pieces which were outstandingly lavish.

Couture Fashion Week, first launched in 2005, is held twice a year in New York City. Each season this production continues to grow and attracts participants as well as visitors from around the world. It is the only major event held in New York City that is exclusively dedicated to couture and luxury fashion. There were over 5,000 guests over the three days and the experience of it all was one I wont ever forget.

To anyone who’s interested in attending a show, I recommend that you book your ticket now for the Spring Show 2012 — you won’t regret it!
