‘Tis the season for horror movie marathons and pumpkin. Halloween is right around the corner and time is running low to find costumes. In the sea of clowns and Harley Quinns, one might be struggling to find a good costume. Then, there’s some of us who wait until the last possible minute and don’t know what to wear. Here are five easy DIY costume ideas for Halloween this year.

1. A Witch

The all black with a pointy hat never disappoints. What’s great about this costume is that it’s really easy to make. Just throw together a black shirt and skirt, a black dress, a black shirt and leggings or whatever all black ensemble you can get a hold of. Pair this with pretty much any accessories and you’ve nailed the look. Simple, cheap and fast. Great costume for a friend group. Walk into those parties and trick or treat with a bad*ss coven!

2. A Scream Queen

What’s a good horror flick without its reigning scream queen? Jaime Lee Curtis, Drew Barrymore, Neve Campbell, Jennifer Love Hewitt, etc., are all great costume inspo. From a cute crop top paired with a mini skirt, to mom jeans and a plain sweater. A quick google search will give you some great ideas. The cool thing is you can wear all black or you can try and match these outfits to a T. Even though this costume is meant to be quick and easy, be sure to give yourself a good amount of time to find the right pieces if you choose to be super precise.

3. A Fairy/Pixie

These costumes are super easy to make and they are so affordable! Grab a body suit, leotard, some tights and you’ve got the basics for a bad*ss pixie uniform. The good thing about this costume is that you can either go all out or leave it pretty bare, it’s up to you. Also, tights are a part of the costume, so it’ll be a warm and comfortable costume. Lastly, this costume works for all levels of makeup skill. You can pull this look off with a simple layer of drugstore makeup or go all out with a glittery cut crease. Totally up to you and your comfort zone!

4. An 80’s Exercise Dancer

If you want to stand out, this costume is definitely for you. A neon color pair of leggings or tights underneath a graphic or solid colored body suit will do just the trick for this outfit. Complete this costume with a fuzzy headband and thick socks. The more layers the better, so you can also pull this look off while being warm. Don’t be afraid to get resourceful. Getting scissor happy is also completely acceptable. So skip the store, save some gas and money and cut up an old ratty t-shirt (this will work for the accessories too). These items can be easily found at a local mall or store, and these pieces won’t hurt your wallet!

5. An Emoji

For more DIY oriented Halloweeners, emojis are great costumes to try. Take on an arts and crafts challenge and make accessories like the tears, the bunny ears and the sick emoji with the mask etc. These costumes are hands down the cheapest and lowest maintenance. Making these accessories could take just a quick look around your house for construction paper, ribbon and other art supplies.

Halloween is almost upon us. Whatever you decide to wear, whether you’re a witch or children eating clown, make sure you have fun and be safe! Carve pumpkins, watch marathons (drinking games welcome, go to haunted amusement parks! It’s officially time to get spooky.
