The pandemic has forced people to come up with creative ways to keep in contact with their friends, family and significant others. Since people are encouraged to social distance to protect the health of themselves and others, many have relied on virtual methods of communication to keep in contact with those that are close to them. Relationships require time and effort, and it’s important that we all find ways to nourish our relationships even from a distance. Here are four virtual activities that you can do to keep in touch with friends amidst the pandemic!

Scener

Grab your popcorn and a comfy blanket because it’s time to settle in for a fun movie or a TV show binge! Scener is a chrome extension that allows people to watch movies and tv shows with their friends. Scener gives you access to a variety of different streaming services and allows you to view shows and movies simultaneously with whoever you choose to watch with. The extension has to be downloaded by all of the people that want to participate in the watch party, and in order to watch a particular show or movie on a streaming service, every person that is watching must already have an account.

Backyard.co

Backyard.co is a website that allows you to play a variety of different games with your friends. It’s easily accessed from a phone or a computer, and it allows you to video chat while you play the games. The website has games that are similar to Cards Against Humanity, Pictionary, Scrabble, Mafia and more! Many of the games can be played with up to 12 people, and one can even be played with up to 50. The games give you the opportunity to bond, engage in some friendly competition and get to know each other better!

AI Dungeon

AI Dungeon is both a website and an app that can be found in the Apple App Store that allows players to enter into a game that’s run by artificial intelligence. An AI will create a random scenario related to a topic of your choosing, like a zombie apocalypse, for instance. Then from that point forward, you and your friends can choose how your character will respond to whatever event was generated.

You can choose to do or say anything, and the AI will come up with a story that goes along with whatever choice you made. You can also alter the story itself if you don’t like the direction the AI is taking it—it really all depends on you. You can go on different AI-generated adventures with your friends and find your way out of sticky situations, secure wealth and fame or acquire power or just manage to survive. It all just depends on you.

Bunch

Bunch is an app that can be downloaded from the Apple App Store that allows you to play different games from the Apple App Store with your friends. People that download the app can play MarioKart Tour, Clue, Sims Mobile, Psych, Uno! and more with friends. Whatever games you choose to play must be downloaded from the App Store before you can play them, and some will cost money, so just bear that in mind. The app can allow you to spend time with friends and have fun in a virtual setting!

Hopefully, you and your friends will find some of these activities to be enjoyable!
