When I’m stuck in a reading rut, sometimes it helps me to read some new and popular books so that I can participate in the conversations surrounding them. There’s a ton of books that have recently come out in 2021, and there’s more to come that are worth checking out and adding to your to-be-read list. Here are a couple of new books of 2021 that I personally am looking forward to reading.

“The Wish” By Nicholas Sparks

Nicholas Sparks is widely known for his romantic fiction work and dramas, and his newest book is set to be published on September 28, 2021. While I’ve never read a Nicholas Sparks book before, “The Wish” takes place in the Outer Banks, North Carolina, which was the first thing I noticed because my family and I vacation there often, so I had to add this to my list.

“Apples Never Fall” by Liane Moriarty

Published on September 14, 2021, this book is a high priority on my to-be-read list. I personally am a huge fan of Liane Moriarty and her other books, so I am very much looking forward to this thriller. “Apples Never Fall” looks at marriage, siblings, and how the people we love the most hurt us the deepest. According to Goodreads, you should read this book if you like mysteries, thrillers, suspense and families that are a little too perfect. If you’ve never read anything by Liane Moriarty before, this might just be the book to get you hooked on her writing.

“We are the brennans” by Tracey Lange

“We are the Brennans” was published on August 3, 2021, and follows Sunday Brennan as she attempts to rebuild her life on the east coast with her family after being in a drunk driving accident. This book explores “the staying power of shame—and the redemptive power of love—in an Irish Catholic family torn apart by secrets.” If you’re a sucker for family dramas like I am, this is something to add to your list.

“the riviera house” by Natasha Lester

“The Riviera House” is a World War II novel popular among Kate Quinn fans and those who like historical fiction. It was published on August 31, 2021, and is written by the author of the popular “The Paris Secret.” This book “brilliantly explores the impossible choices ordinary people face every day during extraordinary circumstances, weaving fact with fiction and celebrating women who push the boundaries of their time.”

“a slow fire burning” by Paula Hawkins

Published on August 31, 2021, “A Slow Fire Burning” is a new thriller and mystery about the gruesome murder of a young man and three separate women who knew and resented him. This may be my next mystery read to prepare for fall and Halloween. This book is written by the same author who wrote “The Girl on the Train,” which I read in practically one sitting, so I can’t wait to check out this one. If you also enjoyed “The Girl on the Train” or are a fan of thrillers in general, then it’s worth adding this book to your reading list.

If you’ve been having trouble finding something engaging to read, these are new novels released or coming out soon that may be able to keep your attention. If you want to stay up to date with what other people are reading, these are all books that have gained popularity or are written by popular, well-known authors.
