Vanderbilt has an astounding number of transfer students from other colleges and universities around the nation. (And the world!) Although Vanderbilt slights transfer students a bit by holding them hostage in Kissam Quad, home to the oldest dorms on campus, it doesn’t stop transfer students from living up their experience at Vandy! Here are some of the experiences that defined every “noob’s” first semester at Vandy:
Â
Â
Dressing up for frat parties!
Â
Every weekend one can find an active party scene right on frat row. The frats at Vandy have themed parties almost every Friday and Saturday night from “Risky Business” to “Alice in Vandyland” to a “Back to the Future” decades-themed party at Sigma Chi.
Â
Â
Wait, what?
Â
Girls wear DRESSES to football games? For transfers from the west coast or from the north, this was definitely a surprise! What happened to face paint, jean shorts and college t-shirts? That’s the real way to rep!
Â
Â
Appreciating the beauty around us!
Â
One of the most exciting things as a transfer student is appreciating the absolutely beautiful campus, specifically the colorful changes of season! (Did you know that Vanderbilt campus is a designated national arboretum?)
Â
Â
Experiencing the city!
Â
Vanderbilt’s proximity to downtown makes it convenient to go downtown for line dancing, live music, great southern food, seasonal festivals and shows including the Nashville Holiday Parade!
