Resturant Review: Marché Artisan Foods

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Vanderbilt chapter.

Nashville is home to an endless list of “must-try” restaurants, but the one that has been at the top of my list since freshman year, is Marché Artisan Foods in East Nashville. This restaurant is only about a 15-minute drive from campus, so you can rest easy and go as often as you like, without spending all your money on Ubers.

Unfortunately, Marché does not take reservations for their weekend brunches (which is what they’re most well known for). With bigger groups, you can expect to wait up to an hour on some days. That being said, whenever I’ve put my name down for only 2 people, I’ve ended up waiting just 20-30 minutes. In either case, they have a bar in the restaurant, where you can order coffee or a brunch cocktail while you’re waiting.

The coffee alone is absolutely delicious. Back in my coffee-drinking days, I never drank black coffee, not even with creamer and sugar. However, the regular coffee at Marché was the only exception to this, and I’d often have upwards of five cups by the time brunch was over. Even now that I’ve given up coffee completely, Marché is still an exception – it’d just be a shame not to enjoy such a heavenly drink.

The coffee is magical but so is the food. By this point, I’ve tried everything on the menu, and it’s truly delicious. The details of the brunch menu change weekly – the items remain the same, but the exact ingredients might be different. For example, there is always a frittata or a quiche on the menu, but the filling changes each week.

Though I’m usually a ‘savory’ person when it comes to brunch, the ‘sweet’ at Marché is heavenly. There are both sweet and savory crepes each week, as well as some sort of French toast or pancake, with fruits, jams, or Nutella, etc.

Trust me when I say that this is a restaurant you absolutely NEED on your Nashville restaurant bucket-list. You will absolutely not regret it.
